Why do the Republic headline writers almost always start Dback articles with "Arizona Diamondbacks"....

Do they think we don't know who the Dbacks are? Or if they just say Diamondbacks we'd be confused?

They don't do that for the Suns

I don't believe they do that in the newspaper (at least they shouldn't), but for online it's critical for search engine optimization.

Ok - that makes some sense - but they don't do it as much with the Suns

The only place I've seen it is in the national headlines, and those are done by foreigners in strange places, like New York.

It is little known in these times that there was even a Brooklyn Football Dodgers team in the NFL from 1930 to 1943 (renamed the Brooklyn Tigers in 1944).

Now, of course, Brooklyn will go from neither major league football nor baseball into the NBA Brooklyn Nets.

I came from New Jersey thirty-four years ago and thought it was a mistake for the NBA to place a team there. A team from Long Island in the ABA that had to sell Dr. J to the Sixers for the money to enter the NBA.

Of course, both the NY (football) Giants and the Jets play in the New Jersey Meadowlands, which many years ago was home to pig farmers. Oh, the odor as you approached the Lincoln Tunnel.
