You win or lose on big plays.

Rackers miss (again), Fitz's fumble, and the punt return for a TD...cost us the win.

Kudos to Warner, Coach Whis, Boldin, and Clancy.

Warner was lights out...

Whis made the right call benching Matt and the onside kick was brilliant.

Boldin was....Boldin.

Clancy made adjustments in the 2nd Qtr and 2nd half that really gave us a chance.

but just like the first two games our inability to stop anybody on 3rd down killed us.

Absolutely. The defense was as much to "blame" as anyone. While it seems like the magnitude of the game comes down to 1 or 2 plays it was the 10 or so converted 3rd downs that did us in.

I don't know how much credit Clancy should get. His defense had the chance to send it to OT and all they did was roll over. He still has a lot to prove as far as I am concerned. Special teams were awful, and Fitz needs to play better, and obviously so does Matt.

You could argue that the hit that Wilson on Heap added 15 yds that cost us the game. However, I don't think that was an illegal hit. If you look at it, Wilson put his shoulder right into the chest of Heap sending him to the ground. Also, on the prior drive by the Cards, Lewis put a lick on our TE that snapped his head back on the quick slant that Warner threw behind the TE. No personal foul on that one. hmmm

I think the Wilson call was a bad one. That put them easily into FG range.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to see it that way.
WILSONS FOREARM AT HIS SIDE!!! He was trying to seperate the ball from the receiver...what is he supposed to do, let Heap run over him? Lewis hit was absolutely a penalty and no call.
Fitzs fumble and the punt return is the reason we lost this game, but the refs was intimidated by a monster hit which was the frosting on the cake.

Wilson put his forearm into a defenseless WR's helmit. In today's league, that is going to draw a foul every time. Five years ago, it's a clean play, no more.

Adrian's going to have to open his wallet in a few days as I expect the league will tack on an additional $15K fine to go with the 15 yard penalty.

It was an over the top hit (that will no doubt make a lot of highlight videos), but it ended up screwing us.

By the way, if it was earlier in the game, I wouldn't be so upset about it.... Heap would have had allegator arms the rest of the way.

Go Cards!!!

Wilson doesn't use his head when he plays. That's the way he is. He has and will continue to get these types of penalties. Unfortunately he is doing them at the worst possible moments.

The forearm hit Heap's shoulder not even his head. It was a call that you get on the road. The problem I have is that Ray Lewis dropped our TE on an uncatchable ball and no flag. I just need consistancy and NFL refs are giving calls to stars that reeks of the NBA.

So in other words, you can tackle, but just not too hard? It's a rediculous call , especially when the ref calls it a forearm hit.
The receiver has an option....don't catch the damn ball if you think you are going to get hit.
Lewis can hit our TE right in the chops with a forearm but I guess it just wasn't "too" hard.

There is a double standard. Wilson deserved his call, as did Lewis. But the refs are ***** and they won't call it on Lewis. That's Cardinal football.

dogpoo( I feel funny typing that) , what is Wilson suppose to do on that play, let Heap run over him? Wilson shoulder hit Heap squarely in his chest. No helmet , NO FOREARM as the ref said, nothing to the head. As God is my judge , if that hit was against us I would be saying the same thing. If the refs are going to make that call then that play SHOULD be reviewable. At least they wouldn't have called it a forearm hit to the head.

I have to question the 3rd and5 play call at the end of the game. Kurt has been hitting short to medium passes all day, so why do you try to hit Fryin' pan hands in the endzone. We had plenty of time to finish the drive.

Totally agree, I basically said the same thing in another thread. Granted, Johnson was on single coverage but Boldin was the money maker the entire second half and Fitzgerald has sure hands (catching the ball, questionable thereafter)

about rackers - the guy was 3/4 today (all 40+) with how many touchbacks? he performed a picture perfect surprise onside kick, touchdown saving tackle and a kickoff to the 5 from his 15. I find it hard to complain about that. he made the pressure kick to tie it. you expect perfection due to '05. too many other mistakes to blame this one on the kicker - dropped passes, punt return, penalties and a QB who was totally overwhelmed.

I wonder if losing Player as his holder is having lingering effects? Maybe we are spoiled by his 2005 season and do expect perfection.

Almost automatic Jeff Wilkins missed two makeable field goals today versus TB after falling just short on the game-winning 46-yard attempt last week versus the Niners.

I'd rather be Ken Whisenhunt right now than Scott Linehan. The Rams seem to be in free-fall. And the Niners fell apart in the 4th quarter against Pittsburgh.

We knew these first four games would be tough. I'll be "pleased as punch" if we end up 2-2 after beating the Steelers next Sunday.

Actually...it was one of my 4 goats but I forgot about it after the site crashed.

AW has a C on his jersey...he should know better than that.

If he hits him at the same speed in the chest, the ball is not caught and we don't get a penalty.

Stupid move by a Captain!

I agree. Rackers didn't contribute to the Ravens taking a 23-6 lead.
