I love Rackers, but he is 0-3 for 50+

He is a pro bowler and we should expect him to hit 51 yarder with game on the line.

I was worried about this. Rackers is great when we are getting waxed. I think today was his first game-tying/winning attempt for us and, IMO, he choked.

This isn't new. When the Cards signed him from the Bengals, the knock on him was that he could kick the hell out of it but was not good under pressure. If I remember correctly, his knock was consistency and not good under pressure.

I am more suprised by last year than I am by this year.

No way did he choke. No way. He can't them all. Chalk this up to the fates. He is money in my book.

Cut Rackers a break. He was one of top stellar players last year. So he missed a long FG or two this year. We still have players on our team who have done WAY LESS than he has. I'm giving him a pass for today.

The Cards should have won this game without relying on him.

Yeah, its easy to be pessimistic, but how do you think he feels right now? Its one thing for a fan to watch a loss, but its another for a kicker to shoulder the loss. Even though he should have never been in the position in the first place. I am not taking any blame off of him, as I agree with the premise, but we would have won this with better play calling and execution.

51 yards is not a short field goal. Not a gimme. You try it.

Maybe they should have kept the gas on in the first quarter. Kick a guy when he's down you know. Then he wouldn't have had to attempt a 51 yard field goal.

Not being pessimistic. Just telling you what I remember was said about him when the Cards signed him. Not an easy FG and I certainly don't blame him for the loss, but to be naive enough to expect him to kick all the time, like he did last year, is kinda foolish

Man I live next door to a middle school with a football field, I have a good leg but kicking off a T and I can barely hit a 25 yard field goal, that's a ridiculous distance to kick a ball through uprights, I'd have rather he made it but that's never more than 40% chance from that distance for the best kickers.

I could have hit it. But thats me. We are talking about a human here. All sarcasm aside... If he missed one of his other field goals, this wouldn't be an issue. I am SURE he is pissed at himself right now. I couldn't imagine that feeling. We are all just fans. We put our hearts and souls into the success of people and organizations we will never have meaningful interactions with. So we lost. Means the Bidwells are on the clock to find D Green a replacement.

I think it's the dome maybe. I think he's better in warm weather...Didn't they show some stat saying he was perfect when the score was tied or something like that? I don't think he's a big choker...

I'm sorry. But I do have meaningful interactions with this organization from time to time. And the next time, it is going to be really hard to keep my mouth shut while walking down the hall at their HQ.

It was a kick I think he would ordinarily make, his 45 (or so) field goal earlier in the game didn't clear by much either. Sadly, our kicker is the least of our worries.

The reason Rakers missed the field goal is because Player was hurrying him. Rakers was about half way through his pre-kick routine and Player shouted at him to hurry up. It knocked him out of his normal routine and he missed the field goal.

I saw that, too. What was Player thinking?

BTW, did he miss left, right or short? I couldn't tell from my seat.
