It took more than two weeks into free agency, but the Raiders have finally signed much-needed help at linebacker. Las Vegas has added former longtime Buccaneers LB Devin White on a one-year deal.
White was the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He went on to be a five-year full time starter for the Bucs, including a trip to the Pro Bowl after the 2021 season. Raiders GM John Spytek was the Assistant GM in Tampa during those years, so he knows what he's getting in the 27-year-old linebadker.
Last year White signed with the Eagles in the offseason but was released in October and latched on with the Texans where he appeared in seven games with one start.
No question White isn't as highly thought of as he once was in the NFl. That much should be evident when he joins his fourth team in a year. But he's worth a shot to see if he can play at starter level on a Las Vegas team with a glaring need at outside linebacker after the departure of Divine Deablo in free agency.
