These rookie contracts are getting out of hand IMO.

McFadden and Hightower

I'm not trying to compare them, it's just great to see things (signings) heating up. And by the way, just a reminder, when six of our draftees sign, someone has to be cut. And when the seventh one signs, a second person has to be cut. Who do you think will be the first two cut, either by name or position? My guess, by position, is TE and OL.

Why can't we wait and try to move players to the practice squad?

It's how teams get better. We could hang on to the R. Browns of the team, but I'd rather cut him for DRC.

You can only have 80 players under contract at any given time during the offseason. We are currently at 75. As each rookie signs a contract they will count towards that 80 number. So once we sign 5 of our rookies we will be at the 80 limit. To sign the last 2 rookies we will be over the limit thus we have to cut 2 players to sign the last 2 rookies.

Cant make the practice squad until after the last preseason game.

I'm going to guess OC Scott Peters and RB Chris Vincent. Maybe not Peters, since I think we'll want 3 OCs in camp. Perhaps one of the WRs?

That's a good bet. There seems to be an abundance of WR's on the roster right now.

Doesnt seem like we had the problem getting the required # of players. Everyone was SOOO worried about that back in March.

They were?

Considering only the top 51 salaries count against the camp I dont think there was a single person here worried about getting players 52-80 signed.

There were all kinds of comments all over this board about how we only had x number of players and how were we going to put a roster together Joe. It was actually kind of surprising to me.

I guess there was still a few missinformed people out there then.

I think that the concern was that the roster was going to get filled by a bunch of guys that didn't belong in the NFL.
