The Raiders continue to add depth to their team in the late stages of free agency. Tuesday they officially signed longtime Panthers tight end Ian Thomas to bulk up the tight end room.

The 6-4, 260-pound tight end has spent his entire seven-year career with the Panthers. In that time he appeared in 99 games with 54 starts.

Originally a fourth round pick out of Indiana, he appeared in every game his first five seasons. His first season was his best in which he caught 36 passes for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Since then, despite working his way up to being a full time starter in 2022, he hasn't cracked the 200-yard mark and hasn't scored a touchdown the past four seasons.

Clearly his value is as a blocking tight end, which is pretty much where the Raiders would want him considering All Pro Brock Bowers is their receiving tight end.

Thomas is coming off a season in which he was lost to injury in week five, which is probably how he flew under the radar the first two weeks of free agency.
