but I think there are others out there that would make a better Voldemort.

Yeah but are they British? Remember that one of the author's conditions for giving up the movie rights was that all actors had to be British.

With that kind of condition it narrows down the options somewhat

Still, even with that stipulation, other parts have gotten the proper actors. Coltraine as Hagrid, Oldman as Black, and now Brendan Gleeson as Mad-Eye Moody. If anything, I think Fiennes would have been better suited in a role like Sirius Black (though, like I said, Oldman really fit the bill) instead of Voldemort.

Still, I don't think he'll do a horrible job. I just think there was probably a better fit.

Are you sure about the Mad Eye casting?

Personally, I think Rowan Atkinson would make the perfect Mad Eye. Then again, I think he'd make an interesting Voldy.

I think Ralph (pronounced in Sean's world as simply Ralph. Otherwise, I'm going to say S E A N spells George) will work out. Voldy NEEDS to be charismatic, and I think he can do that.

Yes. Gleeson has been cast as Mad Eye. I don't have time to dig it up, but go to mugglenet.com, and all the other linked sites on there, and it'll be in the archives. The girl from Sleepy Hollow (not Ricci) is going to be Rita Skeeter, but I don't know the actress.

I love Atkinson, but he'd be a terrible Mad Eye, IMO. Mad Eye has to be funny, yes, but it has to stem from his overzealous vigilance, not silliness. He also has to be dangerous and formidable, something I don't see Atkinson doing. Nothing against him, but he's been the silly actor for so long, I don't see him making the leap. Actually, there was a rumor going around for a while that Atkinson WAS cast as Voldemort, but that was shot out of the water pretty quickly.

I'm with you on Fiennes. It's Ralph Fiennes, not pronounced Rafe Fines Lol Eh, if he wants the old English pronunciation, fine by me

Edit: Go to the link I provided at the top of the thread and click on the Fiennes story...it has a full listing of the new cast members, including Gleeson.
