The Los Angeles Rams made a lot of moves this offseason so far.

They brought back Matthew Stafford, Alaric Jackson, Tutu Atwell and a few others and added big names like Davante Adams and Poona Ford. At the same time, L.A. let a few players walk like Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and Christian Rozeboom.

The Rams spent a good chunk of change so far this offseason, and we still don't know what the new Stafford contract will look like. And while some believe the Rams overpaid for Adams, another analyst thinks the Rams underpaid for Ford. However, Pro Football Focus believes the Rams' deal to retain starting left tackle Alaric Jackson is among the best value signings of the 2025 offseason.

"Jackson’s deal is a very slight annual overpay but locking up their starting left tackle for three more years was the right move for the Rams. His 79.2 PFF pass-blocking grade ranked 22nd among all offensive tackles last season."

The key element to understand with this analysis is continuity. Jackson's contract is in line with a lot of other players at his position, but the Rams didn't have many other options to go with if they let him leave in free agency.

Starting tackles went for a lot this offseason, with the high of $20 million annually going to Tennessee Titans tackle Dan Moore. The Jackson deal is effectively a two-year, $30 million contract, which is on the same level as what the Kansas City Chiefs paid for Jaylon Moore. The difference there, though, is Moore started just five games in 2024 while Jackson started 14.

So not only did L.A. not significantly overpay for Jackson, the team also ensured the same starting offensive line unit as the one they deployed for most of the 2024 season. And for a team looking to defend its NFC West crown, that's a big offseason win.
