The first wave of free agency saw a flurry of players change teams and sign huge deals. But there are a lot of players who remain unsigned more than a month before the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Los Angeles Rams have been among the biggest spenders in free agency so far with some huge moves to acquire Davante Adams and Poona Ford while keeping Alaric Jackson and Tutu Atwell. The Rams also moved on from some key players like Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, Bobby Brown III and more.
As such, there are still some huge holes across the roster. While the draft is a good place to fill them, L.A. could also snag a few unsigned free agents that have slipped through the cracks of the first week of free agency. One of those players is ex-New York Jets inside linebacker C.J. Mosley. Cory Woodroof of For The Win predicts the Rams will land Mosley, who is a five-time Pro Bowler.
This would be the perfect move for the Rams' young defense led by 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Jared Verse. Mosley has 10 years and 133 games under his belt for the Jets and Baltimore Ravens. While he's been a bit injured recently as he enters his 33-year-old season, you can't find that type of veteran leadership elsewhere.
Mosley has 1,083 combined tackles, 12 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and 12 interceptions in his career.
The Rams also have a huge need at inside linebacker after Christian Rozeboom left in free agency. The only inside linebackers currently under contract in L.A. are Omar Speights and Elias Neal. The Rams could draft a linebacker early in the 2025 Draft, but their No. 26 pick might be too far away from the blue-chip linebacker prospects.
Mosley would be a low-risk, high-reward signing given his experience and skillset. And it wouldn't preclude the Rams from drafting someone, either.
It just depends on what Mosley would want in his next deal. The Jets released him because he had an $8.25 million base salary and $12.78 million cap hit in 2025, per Spotrac. Would he want that deal in Los Angeles? That remains to be seen.

"Mosley is the kind of veteran leader in the middle of the defense who could help a Rams team trying to contend for a championship," Woodroof wrote. "He could immediately slot in next to Omar Speights at linebacker."
