I knew we weren't going to get an entire season out of him, but we may not get half a season at this point :bang:

Sadly, this year is going as expected with RJ. :(

I just hope the bug stays away from Davis and Hernandez.

They might as well just keep him out until the last month of the season when they may need him to make a playoff push. There's no sense in continuing this good start, bad start, injury, DL cycle over and over like we are.

good plan, but RJ = ticket sales. So if he can throw, they won't hold him out.

Johnson is done. This was a stupid move by the Dbacks. End of story.

Even if it is the end of the story, it wasn't a stupid move. Baseball is a business. Turnstyles equal people. People equal revenue. Revenue equals profit. Profit equals some reinvestment in the team.

After letting it be known that Gonzo was not welcome back, it was a positive move to bring RJ back. One-fifth of the starting rotation does not stand in the way of young players.

So, WastedFate (hmmm, interesting name), look at the big picture. I commend the Diamondbacks for re-signing Randy.

And don't forget that everyone we traded away has sucked this year, in the majors and minors. Randy is my favorite player in AZ sports history so yeah I'm happy we got him.

Ok then how has Johnsons signing affected attendance? I'm not in the valley so I really don't know. Has his presence made such an impact at the gate that it offsets his large contract?

I thought getting him was stupid but then when we really didn't give up anything (aside from a stupid contract) I was OK with it. It comes as no shock to me a guy with multiple back injuries (not to mention surgeries and other injuries) at that age who has a throwing style that throws that hard is spending tons of time on the DL.

RJ isn't a likeable guy and he's really not the most media saavy and if the D-Backs expected him to be the answer to Gonzo going (which I had no problem with BTW) they were wrong.

Hard to bring in fans when Randy never pitches. I can see why they did it, but Johnson absolutely cannot remain healthy. When he is, he's still a very good pitcher.
