RJ gave up two more home runs as Tampa Bay beat him. Pitching in the AL is harder than the NL. I wonder how long until the media gets to RJ?

Somewhere, the Baseball gods are smiling.

I mean, I appreciate everything RJ did for us, but his exit did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Does anyone still think this guy is the most dominant LH pitcher in the game? I remember being chastised for suggesting Johan fit that bill.

Its still early in the season, so I personally wouldnt be ready to hand that title to Santana (although I understand why others would), but it does seem like the end of Randy's reign is near.

Still too early to tell for sure... RJ had a bad stretch 2-3 years ago early in the season

That said, organizations have to make tough choices on superstars at times... debating between sentiment, fan support, and objective prospects for the upcoming season(s)

With RJ, he made that decision easier for the Dbacks front office by making it plain that he wanted out. Fans hated the deal, but objectively it's beginning to look like the Dbacks are coming out ok with the results.

Dontrelle Willis started off both 2003 and 2004 incredibly hot as well, and was an average to mediocre pitcher by the end of the year both years.

In 2004, he did not allow an earned run in his first three starts, and, at this time last year, he had a 3-0 record with a 0.71 ERA. He gave up seven earned runs in 1+ inning in his next start, and had only one more good month the rest of the year -- July, when he went 2-1 with a 2.78 ERA. Every other month he had a sub-.500 record and an ERA above 4.00

In 2003 his success lasted longer, as he sat at 11-2 with a 2.56 ERA on August 6th, then proceeded to lose his next four, and his ERA rose by nearly a run. He rebounded to win his next three, but was dreadful in the postseason, falling out of the rotation and posting an ERA of 8.53, though he did throw four scoreless innings in the postseason.

Point is, Dontrelle is a good pitcher, but you still may be right about him being overrated, Ryan, even with his tremendous start this year,
