Rangers sign Yu Darvish

$60 million

This was on top of the $51 million the Rangers paid to meet the posting fee just to NEGOTIATE with Darvish.

Kid has been dominant in Japan, which in essence is AAAA ball, but let's see how he does in the majors, especially in a hitter friendly ballpark and facing teams like the Angels, Red Sox, Jays and Yankees yearly. Might be a different tune, one the Rangers invested a brinks truck worth of money into.

Paying over $100M for a guy that's never thrown an MLB pitch (no, the WBC against big leaguers who are essentially in spring training doesn't count) is absured no matter what his talent level is. You'd think watching a decade's worth of these guys flame out would cause teams to realize that. They'd even be better off just spreading that $100M to five or six free agent guys and going with the one or two that pan out.
