Someone posted (I forgot who and where) that we should have polls on all movie threads so people can rate them and we can see what the overall opinion is of ASFN users.

Well, we already have that built in...the thread rating system.

So use it on those movies you've seen, put in your rating and we'll how it goes. Should be fun :)

That's pretty cool. Good idea.

What we need is to figure out how to include half-stars.

I'll bet there is a hack out there for it.

Not really an issue, but one of the drawbacks is that you a) don't know what you voted on the particular move, and b) you can vote for it as many times as you want.

I don't think you can, I think you vote once...if you vote again, it's only so you can change it...unless you're right, I need to test it.

Yeah, I changed my vote on Waitress by voting again, and it didn't add another vote.

If you hover your mouse over the stars, you see the number of votes.

As many times as you want. I initially voted one star, it stayed at 1. I voted 2 stars, it is set to 2. I then voted again for 3 stars in this thread, it is now at 3.

I think it's just changing your vote, not adding.

If you hover your mouse over the stars on the main forum page, it shows the number of votes.

Correct, that's what I gathered as well. If yours is the only vote, and you change it from 1 star to 2 stars, then the "average" will change to 2 stars with only 1 vote recorded.
