The Suns have already signed free agent Steve Nash guard to a six-year, $66 million deal; if the Clippers don't match Phoenix's offer for Richardson, the Suns would have one of the league's most dynamic guard rotations, along with third-year man Joe Johnson.

The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers restricted free agent guard Quentin Richardson have agreed on an offer sheet that will pay the 24-year-old, fourth-year guard between $48 and $50 million, league sources told ESPN's David Aldridge.

When Richardson signs the sheet the Clippers will have 15 days to match the offer. The sources said the contract also includes additional incentives.

Richardson visited the Denver Nuggets earlier in the free agent period and was one of the players in whom Denver had the most interest. However, the Nuggets have turned their attention to Lakers free agent Kobe Bryant and Spurs restricted free agent Manu Ginobili.

The Clippers have indicated that they'd like to keep Richardson, but it would be impossible for them to do and continue their pursuit of Bryant. Los Angeles matched offer sheets last summer for forwards Elton Brand and Corey Maggette, but allowed forward Lamar Odom to leave for the Miami Heat.

Phoenix had initially targeted Spurs restricted free agent Hedo Turkoglu, but negotiations stalled on Tuesday when Turkoglu rejected a six-year, $24 million offer. Turkoglu reached agreement with the Orlando Magic on Wednesday on a six-year deal for the full mid-level exception.

I have a really hard time believing that Richardson signed at contract to be the Phoenix Suns' sixth man. Something must be happening or planned for Shawn Marion or Joe Johnson.

Q can be a starter over JJ since JJ could play 3 different positions off the bench.

This team lacks depth at every position except PG.

JJ can go to SF, Marion will play the PF, and Amare will be center. With Nash and Q we will have an outstanding starting lineup.

I'd like to resign McDyse so Amare has some help. I wouldn't be against trading Marion though. I know every points to his stats, but he is very inconsistant on a night to night basis you never know what you're going to get. We might have too much offense now, if somebody has to go, make it Marion, but get something back.

dude marion is one of the most consistent guys on the team. You know that you get 20/10 from him every night. Plus he's too small to play pf, rashard lewis abused him a few times on the low post, not to mention what others would do to him. Marion is what he is. He's an outstanding sf that can do a lot of different things to help a team win.

see this is where the debate comes in - if you're gonna use the word outstanding - the guy better be a difference maker on the team and I don't care what position he plays - forget it - we'll go around and around on this like we did in the other thread - Shawn is a good SF - nothing more - nothing less.
