Atlanta vs. Dallas, Chicago vs. Cincinnati and Arizona vs. New York Giants Are Other Marquee Games This Sunday
How bad will the Giants beat the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday? Bad. The G-Men were thoroughly embarrassed by the Saints in New Orleans this past Sunday, 48 to 26. They will no doubt be looking to make amends in front of their home fans when the Cardinals come to the Meadowlands on Sunday. The NFL odds on the game are Giants -7. The G-Men figure to cover they average around 30 points a game while the Cardinals average 22. The Cardinals defense won’t stop anybody much less a fired up Eli Manning and Giants’ offense.

This might be a bet worth making... just a thought!

Whatever...

Chances are pretty good no one saw the NO waxing of the Giants coming. And the Cardinals have demonstrated over 5 games - and sometimes separatel halves of the same football game - that you never can be sure who'll show up.

If we were all so expert at predicting outcomes, we'd all be in 1st place in our respective fantasy leagues.

So let the smack-talking begin.

Don't mean nothing except words. What happens Sunday night will be in the record books by early Monday, and then we'll know, won't we.

Meanwhile, fellow Cardinal fans, I suggest we all remain humble and silent - so far our thumping of Seattle has pretty much gone unnoticed by the media pundits, and this, no doubt, is a pretty good thing.

In other words: "Shhhh."

We know what lows this team is capable of. I don't feel too confident until the game is over. We have a history of laying eggs on Prime Time TV. These games always scare the hell outta me.

I would say there is a 90% chance that we get blown out this weekend.

Basically the Cardinals would have to do something that is COMPLETELY counter to everything they have shown the last 20 years and even the last 2 years where we have improved greatly.

- Winning on the road against a Top 5 team

- KW in the Cold

- On a Sunday Night Game

- With a team that can rush with the front 4

- Coming off a very good (and satisfying) win last week

Let me just manage everyone expectation real quick. There is a high probablity the Cardinals get blown out this week. Don't be shocked and dismayed and real upset when it happens.

I hope like hell they win but the only time the Cardinals have COMPLETELY gone against SOC was last year in Carolina during the playoffs. And I think this Giants team is better coached, with a better QB, and its going to be colder.

If we DO win this game the Cards have truly turned the corner. Start printing Super Bowl tickets. But like Shane said..."I wouldn't bet on it"

It makes me nervous when the experts are picking the Cardinals.

I prefer to operate under the radar.

I hope every internet and TV pundit out there picks the Giants to win.

Let me start off by saying I always respect your great posts.I just think you need to have some patience as this 100 year thing is in the midst of changing and WE are getting to see it first hand.On your facts above.
That giant team can't rush right NOW with the front four.It has in the past but this team is in the midst of breaking up and going with a rookie next year it just drafted at defensive end and 2 of the 3 DE's they are using now are not getting the job done this year at all like they used to under SPAGS the lambs head coach. The new defensive coordinator is unable to pass rush with Phillips,Boley or Ross as they are all the top speed guys on defense and are all out of the game.Same as last week.

It won't be as cold as it even was for the Panther game in Carolina this Sunday night.Have you checked the weather all week as I have and others who live their have been posting all week about how the weather will be in the mid 50's gametime with not much wind to worry about.Plus eli has more trouble with wind than anyone on the planet and the giant fans on all of the message boards are praying we have no wind.

That win was'nt as much satisfying last week as it was a part of the growing of THIS YEARS TEAM with its new coordinators and another win at qwest field always boosts the spirits of the CARDINALS who had lost their so many times. We now have a 3 game winning streak with the seahags and I DO NOT see a major beat down this Sunday Night at ALL.

The CARDINALS got beat down by the colts due to turnovers inside the five yard line and we had no help for the 2 best pass rushing defensive ends in the league right NOW!! Thats the key.Osi weighs 250lbs and has a sore shoulder and isn't getting the rush he used too.He needs to be a situational player but this new DC is using him as a regular along with Tuck& Kiwanuka.Robbins and Cole are filling out the interior but most of the tackles are being made by the MLB.The DE's have'nt reached the 20 tackle mark this year.None of them have.

Thats while playing 5 teams with no wins at the time.So we know more what to expect from our CARDINALS than the giants know what to expect from their giants.Coach Sheridan of the defense has really changed things up and they are all calling for his head. They have major holes in the secondary and can't risk going man to man or Kurt will shred them.If they blitz Kurt Warner has a 100% passer rating against the blitz.Well just keep back extra players like we did last week against Kerney who got the seahags one sack.

This is a brand new giants team with a boat load of injuries and its too long of a story for me to explain here but they don't know what they have yet this year.In 10 weeks they will be a different team alltogether.Right now its a great time to play them.Even if they are pissed off they still don't know how to play against a team that can pass the ball yet they are the #1 ranked pass defense due to the 5 losing non-throwing teams they played in the lambs, bucs, chiefs, raiders, skins.Name 5 worse qb's than that.

They got lit up last week and it could have been worse. This is'nt you mothers CARDINALS either. This team was built to win the SuperBowl either or both this year and next year.Shame we did'nt win it last year.So cheer up.:DWe need to control Hixon on kickoff returns and punt returns and watch our run 'D' work.Plus cover the VERY deep passes and then see what happens.

After reading this AF, I'm fairly sure we're going to win this game.

Now if you were to say, "I'm really scared", then it would become a lock.

I respect your optimism. In fact most would tell you I am far more Koolaider then Darksider.

Its just that the Cardinals have alot to overcome and in reality the Vikings and Giants are just TERRIBLE matchups for us. Because they only need their front 4 rushing and when Kurt gets hurried ......we become below mediocre.

Now maybe Wiz comes out with a 6 offensive line set or maybe the 2 TE set is back and better then ever and we can keep those guys off our QB and give him time.

But as everyone has been lamenting, Wiz has been hardpressed to keep extra guys back and help our tackles so far (and I understand the reasoning. The strength of our team is WR's so he wants to get them all on the field as much as possible) and that will just kill us against the Giants.

I'd like to think the Saints exposed the Giants but the more likely is that the G-Men had a bad week and will take their frustrations out on us.

Plus as much as the road has been nice this year have the Cardinals EVER gone to the Northeast and won a roadie?? Even when we were in the NFC East.

Sure this is different team but this would be a tough task even for a team like the Pats. I am also worried many of the guys are satisfied with a big division road win last week and this team handles success about as well as I handle free booze and cheap hookers;)

They will have to show me something this week because they just have never shown the mental toughness to win these types of games.

The good news is this is the worst match up all year and we should be able to go on a run going forward no matter what happens this game.

But I am calling my shot - and I am HUUUGE fan - Giants 42-20.

Hope I am wrong.

99% of the Cards upset wins come when

A. The opponent is really overrated.
B. The opponent is feeling overconfident and doesn't take the game seriously.

Neither one of these scenarios applies to this game.

Well Boldins a gametime decision and something tells me if he rests it till gametime he'll be able to give us at least one good quarter.Unless Whiz sits him.

We did'nt contain Hixon last year in the NEST and they won by 9.I think we have the guys that can get the job done this year.

The saints don't have a run stopping unit as good as ours.Thats gonna really shock the giants and how they deal with it will really effect the game.I can see them taking quite a few long shots at us for sure. They have some good young speed guys.If DRC is on his game and none get past him.

We win a close one.We hold them to more field goals then touchdowns and whoever gives them 7 points just does'nt have a clue about the CARDINALS team this year. They are going off the colts game and not where we have come since then.

The colts and saints are the best two teams in the league right NOW today.Unless the colts had to play the pats in the snow, but thats not gonna happen.

Just because a team is pizzed off does'nt mean it can do something about the 8 key people the team is missing at the moment.I has more to do with getting your arse handed to you by a great team then it does about trying to play mad.The CARDINALS want this game as a team with no concerns for anyone outside that team right now.Character is gonna hold them together threw this tough fight. It will be a very tough fight.

Adjustments at halftime will be critical.I almost predict we'll be ahead and will have to try and hold another lead on a team thats gonna adjust to what we are'nt planning for.Special teams are also major keys to this game unlike any we've played yet this year.eli manning is not peyton manning by a longshot. He really does'nt like to get hit at all.He threw a hissy fit last week during the game. He's gotten to fat and sassy behind that offensive line.We break through them too and its gonna go south for them again.

Well read the two latest articles I got from the N.Y. papers in the newest thread about the giants plan on blitzing Warner and read how cocky the two defensive ends sound about stepping up thier game even though about 8 players won't be playing and they have a brand new defensive coordinator and we rank higher than the saints do as a passing team and how quick Warner gets the ball out against the blitz.

I don't remember the last team that said it was World Class out loud to the press after getting its arse handed to it and announce how they plan to attack the next team they play before the game starts.Sounds more than cocky to me when the only sacks they've had came against 3 losing teams so far this season. All of thier sacks.

They're short of horses and they have a slow MLB who leads thier team in tackles. He left practice yesterday also.

Although in the long run this game isn't make or break it is what you call a statement game for Arizona. One that would change the entire perception of the organization. If the Cards want to be considered as one of the top teams in the NFL they need to win this game or at the least the one in Chicago.

There is no reason they can't. They have the run D to slow down the Giants and the passing offense to put points on the board. And last week they showed a glimmer of a pass defense.

The Cards have plenty of talented veteran players. Fitz,Boldin,St.Adrian, Dansberry, Mr.Twitter, and several emerging stars in Breaston, Campbell, and DRC as well as a future HOF veteran QB. Its time they stepped up and took one of these regular season statement games.

I want you all to drop and give me 20.Don't you feel the CARDINALS wanting this game badly? I don't think they care where its at but I do know they care not to get spanked again on Sunday Night football.Does'nt that change anybody's opinion of what just might happen when the giants who are missing about 7-8 guys or the ones who play are gonna be playing hurt just can't stop a very good passing team at this time in the season.

Especially if that same team can put a stop to thier rb's Jacob and Bradshaw?

I'm even thinking the o-line some of you are giving too much credit too is gonna break down to the likes of our front seven on Defense.Plus the ones who rotate in and out with them all game long. This is about CARDINALS PRIDE NOW!!! 2009 STYLE.

Let me borrow a Billion Laura and I'll win it placing it on the CARDINALS.:DI've noticed those betting against the CARDINALS are hiding their identities.Thats their prerogative.I know they are rich too.

I never picked against the Cardinals
no matter against which team
I always beleive that chance of win/loss is always 50/50

The win against the Seahawks should make us more relaxed and just play our game. It would have been different if we lost in Seattle and all teh pressure on us.

Let's also hope Texans beat 49ers on Sunday morning. It'd give us some encouragement

The only time I was sure Cardinals would lose, against Patriots in the snow last year.

Until recently you would have been wrong. With the Cards it was more like 30/70 for almost 20 years. Thankfully the team has finally started to catch up to the rest of the NFL with some really good draft classes. Now its the other way around when we play.
