"Zeljko Rebraca will sign a one-year, $3.2 million dollar contract with Los Angeles Clippers this Monday. He had a more lucrative offer from Boston Celtics, but, as he said to Sportska Centrala today, "I want to play with a point guard such as Marko Jaric, who knows my qualities in the front court, and with whom I could reestablish myself as one of the prime centers in the NBA."

I can't believe he had a more lucrative offer from Boston on the table.

Neither can I. Doesn't Boston have 17 players on their roster? They also resigned Mark blount, and they have lafrentz signed for a while.

I can't believe he considered himself a 'prime' center????

Someone needs to reevaluate one's self.

The most the Cetlics could offer would be $1.6 million since they used their MLE on Blount.

Rebraca only played 30 games in 2002-03 and 24 in 2003-04.

It would not surprise me if it was the salary that is wrong rather than the offer from Boston. In other words he may have actually signed for less than $1.6 million with the LA Clippers while Boston was offering that much.

That's definately not right.

Mark Blount was the Celtics own FA and they had his bird rights.

They didn't have his Bird rights. He was signed to a short term contract before. His situation was effectively like what GS faced with Arenas, which is why everyone assumed the Celtics couldn't re-sign him.
