Basketball season began today as the Cats played their annual Red/Blue game. The game was televised live via the internet. I watched some of the game and the one guy who looks like he will contribute is Natyazhko. He is a big body and is pretty athletic for his size. I was also impressed with Horne. Looks like he has matured. Nic sat out due to a sprain ankle.

I read on the Arizona rivals board that coaches have been raving about Kyryl who they say has gone from needing a lot of work to a guy who will not be on campus 3 years. This is good to hear considering we have to wait until 2011 to getting another true post player in Sidiki Johnson after losing the Payne sweepstakes.

Kyryl looked very good. Travels too much though at this point and needs to add bulk. The crowd was decent for a scrimmage, 7000+. The team looks to have good chemistry. Fun game!

So it looks like...

PG - Wise
SG - Fogg
SF - Lavender
PF - Horne
C - Natyazkho

Is that correct? I loved Brendon Lavender's game at Mesa Mountain View, hope he can put it together now that it looks like he's in the driver's seat to start the at the 3. Arizona will be young this year, but realistically they're in all likelihood only going to start one freshman in future NBA'er Kyryl Natyazkho. I think #26 is no guarantee but within striking distance.

I actually love that lineup to begin the year beacuse of the talent we have off the bench. I think out of the gates that is probably our most consistent unit on defense.

A bench of Momo, Hill, Williams, and Parrom sounds good to me even if they are all freshman.

Momo has proven thus far that he is going to be the scorer/6th man we have been missing for a few years. If he performs in games like people around the program think he will, it makes us a much better team and really helps our bench.

In my opinion the play of Momo is going to be key this year, because we really dont have another guy right now that can go out there and score after Wise.
