Red Sox trade Sam Travis to Rangers for pitcher Jeffrey Springs; DFA Bobby Poyner

The Boston Red Sox announced their second trade of the offseason Tuesday, a few hours after a press conference where ownership discussed the departure of manager Alex Cora. The Red Sox have acquired left-handed pitcher Jeffrey Springs from the Texas Rangers in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Sam Travis. Boston also announced it has designated right-handed pitcher Bobby Poyner for assignment in order to make room for Springs on the 40-man roster.
