Clay Buchholz won his major league debut, David Ortiz homered to highlight a six-run first inning and the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 8-4 Friday in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. The Red Sox won the start of a four-game series between AL division leaders despite losing catcher Doug Mirabelli in the first inning because of a strained calf.
