Chase Burns' first home start for the High-A Dayton Dragons was almost as impressive as his pro debut last week.

The Cincinnati Reds' top pitching prospect struck out seven Friday night while allowing one run on two hits with two walks in 3 2/3 innings in the Dragons' 5-1 loss to the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

The 22-year-old right-hander threw 61 pitches, 39 for strikes. Burns' ERA through two starts with the Dragons is 1.17.

Burns ranks first among MLB Pipeline's top Reds prospects, and 25th among MLB Pipeline's top 100 overall.

Burns didn't pitch professionally in 2024 after the Reds made him the second overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft.
