PORTSMOUTH - Portsmouth High School boys lacrosse senior Reilly Collins broke into a quick celebration after he scored his fourth goal as the buzzer sounded in Friday's home-opener against Hanover.
The first-quarter buzzer, that is.

Collins finished with a game-high four goals and added two assists to lead Portsmouth to a 14-2 Division II win at Tom Daubney Field, improving to 2-0 on the season.
Two of Collins' goals were empty-netters, which he labeled as being in the right place in the right time, scoring three of his goals in transition.
"Overall, it's just knowing that our defense is legit and they can get a turnover at any time," Collins said. "You always have to be ready to catch, dodge, shoot and score, whenever ... I was ready for it, and it just paid off."
Collins scored his first goal of the game, and the season, with 7:30 left in the first quarter, giving Portsmouth a 1-0 lead. He added his second goal just 2 minutes later, and his third with 4:56 left. Portsmouth's Andy Brown assisted on Collins' first goal, with Nash Conklin assisting on the second.
"Reilly has added a lot," Portsmouth head coach Chad Vischer said. "He's added that scoring knowledge and ability; not only skills, but just how to run things."
Collins, who got quality playing time a year ago, but was behind players like Nick Smith and Zac Amend, both all-state Division II all-state first-team selections, and second-team selection Lucas Patten.
With all three departed, it opened up more opportunities for Collins to be more of go-to guy this season on a younger team.
"(Collins) is our quarterback back there amongst a bunch of young guys," Vischer said. "He's done a really good job at that. I'm happy. He's a kid who spent his time and has waited in the wings of other people who have gotten notoriety and I'm happy for him."
Collins said its definitely different this year.
"We're a young team, and we're learning a lot," Collins said. "We're getting better every practice and every game. I'm just trying to learn my teammates and trying to do the best I can with being loud and communicating."
Portsmouth sophomore Henry Purcell, who scored three goals Friday, talked about what Collins brings to the team.
"(Collins) is just a visionary," Purcell said. "He can just see everybody on the field. He can always get the pass off to anybody. It's pretty easy to score when I'm on the field with Reilly."
Vischer said Collins always had the ability.
"We're focusing on him," Vischer said. "Instead of Zac Amend, Nick Smith and other guys carrying the load, now he's carrying the load. Our goal is to let him have that ability, but also try to get the younger guys doing the right things and be in the right places."
Collins said he definitely needed to work on his communication when he was a younger player.
"I'm trying to do my best to get these younger players those experiences and just be in their ear," Collins said. "Tell them how they can get better, and overall just being a positive guy, and hype the boys up."
Alec Lawton, Masi Shone, Thijs Beelen, Sam Biddle, Finn Moran, Chase Eberhardt and Corland Barr all scored one goal Friday.
Portsmouth led 7-0 after the first quarter, and 10-0 at halftime.
"We knew we had to bring it, the boys were prepping all day," Collins said. "We just came out and played the game we love. We ended up getting ahead early, that's always nice. Overall, I thought the boys stuck together really well."
"I think everybody played well," Purcell said. "We're still getting into the season, so everything is a little rocky. We have a really good defense, so we can always rely on them,, really."
