Moviegoer is stabbed after complaining about cell phone user
March 10, 2010|By Richard Winton

A dispute at a Lancaster movie theater during a screening of "Shutter Island" ended with someone plunging a meat thermometer into the neck of the man who complained about someone sitting near him talking on a cellphone during the show.

The incident occurred two weeks ago at the Cinemark 22 theater, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Completely understandable.

There are some things I never leave my house without. Among them being my keys and wallet, spare change and my meat thermometer.

I mean come on, really BIM, who does not go to the movies without bringing their meat thermometer?

I know, I feel naked without my meat thermometer.

Good point. Something didn't seem right.

It also could read:

Meat Thermometer: Don't Leave Home Without It

I suppose it could have been worse, a rectal thermometer probably carries more bacteria.

True, but they're not as effective in stabbing people. Meat thermometer is definitely the best option in the family of thermometers for stabbing. Smart choice.

Yeah, I never hesitate to tell someone off for it. I almost got into a fight once because it pissed some guy off. After I stood up, he decided to stop mouthing off, sit down, and ****. I guess either he didn't like how big I was, or he didn't have a meat thermometer.

Oddly enough, this person was watching a movie about a psychiatric ward. Perhaps, he should have been in one instead??

I wish I could stab them in a movie theater too. It is the biggest reason why I rarely go to the theaters anymore.

Anybody else ever been in Lancaster?

There are parts of that town I'd pack a meat thermometer.

I had to live there for a while. Some very weird things happen there. The people in the city have a very high tatoo per square inch of skin ratio - especially the women. This guy probably packs a meat thermometer everywhere he goes to check when road kill is fresh enough to take home for dinner.

Seriously, when I first read the story posted here I was shocked. Then when I saw it happened in Lancaster I thought to myself, "Oh, of course". I remember reading the newspapers there and every day there seemed to be a new totally whacked out headline that you could never dream up if you tried.

I wasn't shocked at all and I figured right away it was somewhere in Southern California. Lately I've been running into a lot of people who used to live in So Cal and the conversations generally run to talking about how whacked out everyone and everything is there and how glad we all are that we left. And how we're always telling relatives and friends in O.C. or L.A. that AZ doesn't have so much of that insanity. Followed by, "I keep telling my sister/brother/uncle/friend they should move here."
