Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt is pondering a summer departure, Sky TV has reported.
Sky said that German international Brandt and his father and adviser, Jürgen Brandt, are looking into options despite a Dortmund contract until 2026.
Brandt, 28, came to Dortmund in 2019 from Bayer Leverkusen for €25 million ($27 million).
He was seen as a future team leader after last summer's exit of Marco reus and Mats Hummels, but like the whole team has performed below par and he was not nominated into the Germany squad for the Nations League quarter-finals against Italy.
Dortmund are ranked 11th in the Bundesliga and must fear missing out on a European berth, unless they win the Champions League where they play Barcelona on the quarter-finals.
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl remained vague a few days ago when asked out Brandt's role in the future.
"You can't really say that in the current situation. We have a contract, of course, but we are in a difficult situation," Kehl said.
Dortmund could be in for a bigger overhaul as the future of Niklas Süle, Giovanni Reyna and Salih Özcan is also reportedly uncertain although they have contracts until 2026 as well.
