Two Vancouver Canucks will not be headed to Sweden and Denmark at the end of the season. According to a report by Rick Dhaliwal of "Donnie and Dhali", Thatcher Demko and Quinn Hughes will not be headed to the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship. Instead of competing for Team USA, both will focus on resting the injuries that they sustained during the season.

Hughes and Demko have not competed for Team USA since the 2019 World Championships. That year, the Americans fell to Team Russia in the quarterfinals. Hughes was scheduled to participate in this year's 4 Nations Face-Off, but missed the tournament with an injury.

The 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship begins on May 9, 2025. The event will be held in Stockholm, Sweden and Herning, Denmark. At this time, no Canucks players have committed to play in the tournament.
