As of Thursday, the New York Giants had roughly $2.55 million in remaining salary cap space, which was among the lowest totals in football. But that has now changed. ESPN’s Field Yates reports that the Giants made a substantial adjustment to the contract of cornerback Janoris Jenkins, converting $4.5 million of the Jackrabbit’s base salary into a proratable bonus. Because of the adjustment, the Giants created $3 million in additional cap space. After the savings on Jenkins’ contract, the current math puts the Giants at about $5.55 million in salary cap space entering Week 1.
