The New Orleans Saints will watch one quarterback be put through his paces at his pro day before flying out of town to have dinner with another one. The pro day circuit is a busy time for scouts and coaches around the league, and the Saints are no exception.
They flew into Miami on Sunday evening in advance of the Hurricanes' pro day workouts on Monday afternoon, but Sports' Illustrated's Albert Breer reports they won't be in South Florida for very long. Breer says that the Saints are one of three teams "expected to send big crews to Austin" with plans to have dinner with Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers on Monday night. Ewers plans on meeting with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders before dinner with the Saints, then throwing at his own pro day on Tuesday.
Clearly the Saints are doing their homework on this quarterbacks class. They previously met with both Ewers and Miami quarterback Cam Ward at the NFL Scouting Combine, so now they'll get more time with each passer. It's been reported that head coach Kellen Moore, offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley were part of the group visiting Miami. It's a safe bet they'll all be in Austin later.
