The Philadelphia 76ers will head into a very interesting summer once the 2024-25 season comes to a close. Entering the season with championship expectations, the Sixers will fall well short of those goals as they will miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
While there will be plenty of questions about whether the Sixers should look into trading Paul George this offseason, there appears to be one topic of discussion that everybody is on board with: bring back Quentin Grimes.
Grimes, acquired from the Dallas Mavericks at the deadline, has been fantastic for the Sixers averaging 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 49.1% from the floor and 39.2% from deep while being the No. 1 option on most nights due to all the injuries. He will be a restricted free agent in the offseason so that is always a tricky situation, but the hope is to bring him back.
Per Marc Stein via his substack:
One has to wonder if Grimes will sign an offer sheet elsewhere which would then give the Sixers the option to either match it or let him walk. A team like the Brooklyn Nets is one to watch due to the salary cap they possess so they could offer him a big deal to see if the Sixers will match. Either way, it appears that Philadelphia has interest in bringing him back into the fold.

The Sixers, I'm told, do hope to re-sign Grimes, whose precise market is difficult to forecast (as it always is for RFAs).
