I have a picture that I want to make my new avatar but the only software I have that allows me to crop it doesn't seem to get it small enough, keeps saying file is too big. In fact it's too big to even paste here to show you.

We were at some festival on Sunday and a lady was filling bottles with colored sand for art and to my amazement she had one with a Cards helmet and stickers. I bought it and took a picture to use for my avatar but the pic is 171 MB which is roughly twice as big as allowed.

You should be able to see the pic here in my yahoo pics. It's the album with today's date.

171 MB?

Do you mean 171 KB?

I'll take a quick look and see what I can do.

My dad caught it and you just use a squid jig.

Here's a link to what one looks like

They glow in the dark so the sunlight activated it, you drop it down and the squid grabs it and gets stuck. These are humboldt squid, Discovery had a show on them called Killer Squid. Pretty cool but I wouldn't want to be in the water with them.

Yea I will try but the resolution on that pic is VERY high. I don't think I'll be able to do it and it still look good at 85x85.

Long story but we used it as bait. There's a spot off an island there where they have HUGE grouper, basically live around rocks and caves. We wanted to catch a 10 pound skipjack to use for bait but the guide said Squid would work too, so we caught a squid. Think that was about a 15 pounder, they get over 60. My dad caught it on a pretty beefy rod and reel but yeah he said it pulled like hell. I tried it next but never got one and then we tried for the grouper. So the series of pictures you see is all the same squid, first time we caught it, and then 2-3 other times when we dropped it down for bait and then reeled it back in. The guide wound up keeping it since we never got a grouper.

Those things will hit flies too, you just have to catch one on a jig and others will follow it up and then you toss bait in the water and then you're fly. They squirt ink all over but the guides know that so they keep the squid in the water until it's squirted.

They don't actually get hooked the suction cups on their legs get stuck to the hooks and they sort of just hang on.

Do you cut the squid up for bait or use the whole thing? Sounds like you use the whole thing.

Must be huge Grouper.

I love fishing but haven't been able to go, for real at least, in a couple years.

Took the family up to catch some little stock trout this summer. But I don't really count that too much, while I do enjoy it, I need to go with the boys and fish for something big sometime soon before I go nuts.
