For those who went to the game I highly suggest watching it on TV as many things stood out that you just can't pick up while at the game. Here are a few notable items in no particular order:

1. I didn't realize that BIG was the cause of the unsportsmanlike conduct at the very end of the game (touchdown) pushing Dallas back 15 yards on the kickoff. That was a significant penalty and a bonehead play. You could tell he wanted to kick our ass, thanks Leonard for coming through for us.:)

2. Officiating - Huge miss call that went OUR way. Right before Neil kicked the 41 yarder to put us up 10 points Kurt got hammered while attempting to make a pass, as there was much discussion as to whether it was a fumble or not no one noticed that the pass was touched by Levi while in the air which should have been an illegal touch putting us back another 10 yards making the field goal 51 yards. The officiating sucked all the way around...

3. Larry's CATCH (the first one that was overruled) - When you watch this play on TV it appears his foot is on the line, I have HD and they enlarged the screen but due to pixelation the line between his foot and out of bounds are blurred making it appear he was on the line. Of course if you look at the picture on AZCentral.com his foot is in bounds...so I understand what the ref saw but when does the word CONCLUSIVE actually mean CONCLUSIVE???? By the way Larry is a freak, how the hell he got that foot in is simply amazing.

4. Aikman - While he seemed fair in that he didn't seem to pull for either team it was clear that he believes the Cowboys are a FAR superior team than the Cardinals. Granted the Cowboys deserve some of this love but clearly Troy thinks the 'boys are an 11 on a scale of 10 and the lowly Cards a meeger 5.

5. Control of the game - Watching the game in the stadium there was a perceptable feeling that the Cardinals were in control and going to win (maybe that was the Cardinal KoolAid I was drinking??) anyway watching the game on TV I came away a little less enthused given the absolute ridiculous amount of penalties we had on offense. It sure appeared as if we were playing a road game in the first half (offense). The false starts, illegal formation crap has GOT TO STOP.

6. TV versus LIVE - While you definitely pick up the nuances of the game watching it on TV you cannot understate enough how much of the emotion you miss when you are not there live. The crowd was into that contest big time and you just can't capture that through television.

It's my understanding that if the throw is disturbed, e.g. the quarterback's arm is hit in the motion of throwing, it's not an illegal touch if it hits a lineman. In other words, it's not a deliberate pass to an offensive lineman. I could be wrong on that.

To me this is not an Aikman issue, rather it's a national media issue. It wouldn't have mattered who was doing the analysis of the game...even Dan Dierdorf would've been surprised by the Cardinals' play in the game. I think Troy did a good job...he had Stockton lofting those softball questions to him and that made him seem more biased than he really was.

How about the crowd noise comparison? Many of us who watched the game on TV have commented on how loud the crowd was when the Cards had the ball or if Dallas had a successful play. I know the Cards fans were louder but there was also a lot of noise from the visitors.

at the stadium, here is what I noticed:

when the Cards did something good -- the noise was classic deep throated crowd noise

when the Cowboys did something good, particulalry the field goal at the end -- the cheer was much higher pitched and much more shrill, like a bunch of pre-pubescent boys cheering.

Just what I thought, it was Jersey Girl's sister making all that noise.

Actually, the penalty is 5 yards. I'm not sure whether (as Totally_Red pointed out) it's still an infraction if the passer is hit while attempting to throw....

Guess Who Criticized Aikmann?

None other than Boomer Esiason.

He apparently slammed Aikmann for Cowboy homerism on CBS and it was picked up by USA Today this morning.

USA Today's football media writer sided with Aikmann, however, essentially saying: "Hey! The Cowboys are really good, so they deserve all the extra attention.

My position - The game was watched by both Cardinal fans and Cowboy fans. They were entitled to a degree of balance in the coverage. If FOX likes Aikmann's passion for the Pokes, they then should come up with a co-anchor who's equally passionate about the team they're playing.

Related OT Note - Cardinals got some love from McCain during the debate.

I'm not going to say who I'm for (for the sake of unity within this bb I'll never tell) but must admit to being fascinated with and tempted by the possibility of having a Cardinal fan in the White House.

Or not.

I'm not sure if it gets wiaved off either, but had illegal touching been called, it's also not a loss of downs. So, we would have been 5 yards further back, but it would still have been 3rd down. We may have gotten those 5 yards back, or even better, gotten the 1st down.

It's funny Boomer would say that since he was so obviously biased against the Cardinals for not paying his bonus, this lasted years, he bagged on them every chance he got.

I loved Aikman's reply to, that he's glad Boomer is watching the NFL on Fox, which is of course a competing network to Boomer's employer.

It was a pretty good dig since he clearly didn't care that much what Boomer had said.

I thought Aikman was as impartial as you can be when you played your whole career for one of the teams involved, on an impartial scale where 1 is a homer and 10 is totally impartial, he was a 7 or 8, and Deion is a perfect 1.

What was Aikman's response? Deion is the perfect homer. For sure.
