Go Lord of the Rings!

Chaplin...is it shocking that Kidman isn't up for an Oscar? I can't believe they have the Whale Rider girl...that's amazing! I haven't been paying attention, but was that expected?

By the way, don't think I'm a homer when I say Return of the King should win all 11 awards it's nominated for :)

Visual Effects...uhh, yes.
Makeup...uhhh, yes.
Film Editing....sure, why not.
Costume....uhhh, yes!
Original Song...tougher pick here, I can see them not winning this one. But it did win a Golden Globe.
Original Score...should win.
Sound Mixing...yes.
Art Direction...completely.
Adapted Screenplay....YES!
Director...HANDS DOWN!
BEST PICTURE.........................YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Okay, done now :D

I'm really impressed with the Oscar nominations this year.

I am surprised that the girl from Whale Rider was nominated over Nicole--even though Nicole Kidman doesn't deserve a nomination.

Seabiscuit was a great movie, but I'm surprised The Last Samurai wasn't nominated instead. Seabiscuit came out an eternity ago--at least, an eternity when it comes to Academy voters. However, Dreamworkds did a good job of marketing the film--it was plastered all over Variety and Hollywood Reporter.

As for Lord of the Rings, it has a good chance of winning most of its categories. But there are some that I think it won't win. Best Adapted Screenplay will probably go to American Splendor. And don't count out Master and Commander--in most of the technical categories (sound, editing, etc), I think M&C is LOTR's biggest competition.
