Brittany Murphy Dies
Dec 20th 2009
TMZ Staff

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

Very sad, and too young. There's whispers that its related to drug use or an eating disorder (she was incredibly thin...) Either way, very sad!

She will always be Tai from Clueless... ROLLING WITH THE HOMIES!

Homicide detectives are investigating. Doesn't mean she was murdered, but they're there.

I always liked her she looked like an ex girlfriend of mine except skinnier. And she has a really likable personality.

She was good in that Michael Douglas movie too the "I'll never tell" movie.

Way too young to die.

It's always a surprise to me that young Hollywood never seems to recognize their own self-destruction. This is sad, not because I knew the girl -- and it happens every day all over the world to people of much, much lesser means, but because you just know her peers won't heed the implicit warning that comes with it. This time next year we'll be saying the same thing about some other young star.

Story on Yahoo now says her family is saying she had been ill in the days before her death, flulike symptoms, and was taking prescriptions for it. So I suppose it's possible she had something like H1N1?

I'm no expert, but have people been dropping dead from H1N1?? I thought those that did die from H1N1 did so after a prolonged battle, that almost always involved other illnesses??

Don't want to speculate too much, but an otherwise healthy 32 year-old girl shouldn't suddenly die from H1N1.
I would guess there are other complicating factors... perhaps some we'll hear about, and some we might not...

It's been reported she had an addiction to Vicodin. If true, that would definitely complicate things with H1N1. Severe coronary artery atherosclerosis is common among opioid users. Over time, it's a statistical oddity that someone could somehow avoid a heart attack. I know this from personal experience, unfortunately.

That's what I thought Gadd. BTW, I remember when you suffered your loss. Didn't know it was connected to opioids... You do indeed know of what you speak.

Well people are going to die just from the vaccine so yes healthy people can die from it and non healthy people like she apparently was certainly could too.

My girlfriend has some show on right now about it. The husband apparently told the hospital he didn't want an autopsy which spurred suspicion he just didn't want people to know why she died. She was apparently recently dismissed from a movie role because she was looking so listless they just didn't think she could do the role. They said she looked skinny, unhealthy and hollow or something similar, forget the exact words.

It's pretty clear the common theory is weight loss or something else leading to weakened immune system. Her husband said she'd been to a doctor for laryngitis and was on something for that.

Sounds like we may never know especially if he doesn't want the autopsy.

Very sad.

and they did do an autopsy

TMZ has learned Brittany Murphy's autopsy is complete. There were no signs of foul play, we've learned, and there was nothing that pointed to a cause of death. The cause of death has been "deferred" pending other tests.

Sources say the L.A. County Coroner will wait for the toxicology report, as well as the histopathology (study of her organs and tissues) and neuropathology (study of her brain).

One source said the body appeared "normal." In addition, we're told she did not appear overly thin -- in contrast to some photos that surfaced several weeks ago. There was no evidence of trauma to the body.

We're told the Coroner will not determine cause of death until the other reports are submitted -- in 4 to 6 weeks.

One issue the Coroner is interested in -- what prescription drugs were in Brittany Murphy's system.

Came across this story that could have been a bit of a foreshadow of what was potentially to come... Given that some of the meds found in Murphy's bedroom were in the name of her husband. Certainly don't want to speculate too much, but a more cynical person could attempt to connect some dots...

Brittany Murphy's Hubby Rushed to Hospital

Posted Nov 28th 2009 8:30PM by TMZ Staff

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, was rushed to a hospital at LAX this afternoon after his plane landed at LAX. And we're told Britney didn't think it was serious enough for her hubby to go to the hospital, but the fire department disagreed.

The flight from Puerto Rico landed in Los Angeles at 2:40 PM today. We're told Monjack was incoherent when EMTs boarded the plane.

Murphy told the responding fire dept. personnel she thought it was an asthma attack, but the EMTs felt it could be more serious than that.

We don't know his condition.

We've left a message for Brittany's rep, but have not heard back.
