Very sad - only 75, died of bladder cancer.

Actor from M*A*S*H - one of my favorite shows.

David Ogden Stiers, the tall, balding, baritone-voiced actor who brought articulate, somewhat snobbish comic dignity to six seasons of the acclaimed television series “M*A*S*H,” died on Saturday at his home in Newport, Ore., a small coastal city southwest of Salem. He was 75.

His death was announced on Twitter by his agent, Mitchell K. Stubbs, who said the cause was bladder cancer.

My favorite quote of his... RIP

"But know this. You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer.”

He was masterful, and M*A*S*H is my favorite series of all time. This is just so bloody awful.

I know - and in reality, much of the remaining cast is older.
He was 34 when cast - seemed much older at the time.

Remaining cast members:

Alan Alda - 82
Loretta Swit - 80
Jamie Farr - 83
Mike Farrell - 79
Gary Burghoff - 74

The rest of the main cast (William Christopher, Wayne Rogers, McLean Stevenson, Larry Linville, Harry Morgan) are already gone.

While M*A*S*H will always be my favorite, he was also in my all-time favorite Disney movie, doing the voice of Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast (the clock). One of my favorite lines to just throw out sometimes is his: "...as I always say, if it's not Baroque, don't fix it!"

RIP, sir. Loved your work.

Wow, Newport OR. I used to live there. Small town of about 10k.

Loved him in Better Off Dead. The cereal box scene was a classic.
