When Don Zimmer broke into MLB with the Brooklyn Dodgers 1954, his nickname was Zip and he was a backup infielder.
In the Dodgers championship season of '55 he hit .239 in 88 games but had 15 HR's and 50 RBI's.
His best season was three years later when he hit .262 with 17 HR's and 60 RBI's.
Although he looked a lot different than in later years, he was always a bit of a character.
Thanks for the memories, Zip.
