He and his wife just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversiary. Malden was a really good guy, from what I can tell. His role as the priest in On the Waterfront is one of my favorite characters in any film.

I just rented an obscure but really good film called One-Eyed Jacks, with Marlon Brando as the protagonist bank robbing cowboy and Malden as the antagonist bank robbing cowboy--Netflix has it--I'd highly recommend it if you're a Brando or a Malden fan, or if you're into Westerns that aren't of the John Wayne/Gary Cooper/Dean Martin wimpy formulaic variety.

RIP, Karl. You lived a long, fruitful life and provided really good entertainment for us all.

Karl's American Express commercials provided Johnny Carson with some of his very best bits.
