RIP My XBOX 360

Well I'm on my second Xbox 360 after my first one died a little over a year ago. Well, my second one just died as well (tear, tear). Last time it took 4 weeks to get it back. If I wasn't so heavily invested I would consider selling it when it comes back and grabbing one of those 40GB PS3's even though Xbox 360 is about 1000x better. The death of my consoles are just hard to deal with. Are there any support groups out there? I was going to play Rock Band this week. I guess I'll just have to stick with board games.:(

Not sure if you can say anything is a 1000x better if they keep dying.

You need to make sure that you get one of the newer models.

I'm just hoping to get the thing back in 2 weeks. Last time it was a disaster and it took 5 weeks. Should I request HDMI? I'm not sure the Xbox Customer Care guy could do anything anyway. They can barely type and communicate let alone fulfill special requests.

i have heard people calling for their replacement and telling them to send them one of the new ones with the new heatsink or cooling pipe?? something like that. i dont own a 360 but i believe thats what they added.

Well they said I would be getting the new version with all of the cooling stuff. I gues slast time they basically replaced my launch Xbox with another launch Xbox. I'll be crossing my fingers. Time to break out the Dreamcast and rock some NFL 2K.

That sucks. My sons was bought on the initial release and gets played many hours a week and is still going strong. Makes you wonder why?

I am determined to buy either a 360 or a PS3 for the holidays. I am leaning towards the PS3 and stuff like this only helps cement it. The last thing I want is to have to deal with returning some piece of crap that dies.

If you want a game machine, you should still get the 360, just the newer one. If you want a game machine that will take a few more months to come out with quality titles, and you want an HD player, get a PS3.

This is coming from someone who owns both.

Dunno if they will give you an HDMI one, but if you have an HDMI port, it is at least worth a try. They have a traditional A/V port as well. Call them and request it.

ftfy...sometimes you have to be forceful on this sort of thing. Squeaky wheel & all...bitch about how much you've been inconvenienced, etc.

MSFT is already doing more than any other company would. Sony had to be sued before the started fixing the PS2. MSFT is being proactive.

I'm just saying to be more aggressive about it, than saying, "hey, can I have this instead?" Sometimes you have to be jerky to get what you want.

Never had an issue with mine. Launch day x360 even. Nor has abomb with his.

First one, DVD drive scratched discs. 2nd one was good. 3rd one is also good.

With a reported 30% fail rate this would be statistically correct :)

Well I put it out there because you only hear horror stories...happy happy joy joy stories are never posted about.

If you went by what was posted online it would seem like a 95% fail rate. :)
