The up coming draft is actually quite exciting. This offseason, speaking for myself, is extremely interesting. Yes, the Cardinals have been very inactive with free agency, but Harry put it best in a post on this board, that the Cardinals are attacking this offseason in a different way.

Last year was "All or Nothing" and it became "All a Nightmare". [2015-2016] was supposed to be it, that was the big push, the time where all the money on the roster lined up to put the team in the position to win it all. You can even go back to when Keim was talking in 2013, and 2014 about how this roster was being built for 2015.

This year? Well, it sounds like Bruce Arians convinced Keim to give it one more shot, but this time they are going after the title "Arians style". They are going to roll the dice, take chances, and see if they come up sevens. They are betting that veterans with quality experience and professionalism can give it one more gasp of what they have left skill wise in the NFL, and allow the collective mental toughness on the roster, to win a Championship. .........but not at the expense of the rebuild that will need to happen in 2018.

and if that is not the plan, then to be honest, I have no idea what this front office is doing. Yet, through it all I am not really worried, the difference between the "lean years" when Graves was in charge and now with Keim in charge ? FINALLY, they have invested in the trenches. The offensive line and defensive lines are still stocked with talent. You can always build from there.

Now below is my first crack at talking about the draft. The Cardinals are sitting in a perfect place in the draft. They are at 13, and they will be at a spot where, for the first time in years, I think they will trade down. There will be too many pass rushers, an offensive tackle and running backs that other teams will covet which gives the Cardinals a great chance of trading down. If Fornette is there at 13, I think the Raiders are game on trading up for that pick and player. They are kicking the tires on Adrian Peterson and even Marshawn Lynch, they want a power back.

The first two rounds are going to be about getting a quarterback. The 13th overall pick may be a little bit too early, and the middle of round 2 may be a little too late.

The ideal scenario ? The Cardinals trade 1st round picks with the Raiders and pick up an extra 2nd round pick.

Below is be top 3 players for the first three rounds, this WILL change that I am sure of:

** Myles Jarrett, Jonathan Allen, Malik Hooker, Mike Williams & Marlon Humphrey won't be there in the first round, IMHO.

1st Round:
- Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
- Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
- O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

2nd Round:
- QUARTERBACK:
- Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
- DeShaun Watson, QB, Clemson
- DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
- Kevin King, CB, Washington
- Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU
* so much value in this 2nd round, this was tough!

3rd Round:
- Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia
- Jordan Sterns, SS, Oklahoma State
- Jalen Robinette, WR, Air Force

I don't think those QBs will be available to the Cards in round 2.

I agree, but I couldn't justify the pick at 13 either....... at least that is where I am now in the process.

That is why I really can see the Cardinals working hard to find a trade partner to get into the 20's in the first round and try to pick up a 2nd or 3rd round pick in the process.

The Cardinals need a QB, and are to high in the 1st and too low in the 2nd.

Sounds similar to what George Allen did with the Skins back in the day.

Drafting Foster and Mahomes with our first two picks would look pretty good to me.
Have we ever gotten the full story of Foster's issue with the hospital professional? Any remaining red flags over that? Also - read Mitch's comments about Foster's concussion history. (The negative stuff can be tricky because of its potential for disinformation. Still, it can't be totally ignored either).

But remember, the once second round QB talent or even the third round QB talent is now the first round talent... I say we get our guy with the first pick and not wait till the second or we have no chance

If they want a QBOF they'll have to take a flyer in Rd. 1, imo. Otherwise they'll be drafting for a b/u, mtl. Perhaps Davis Webb, Kelly, Bethard or Peterman, someone like that. They could consider trading back from 13 and let the chips fall where they may.

What TE's would you consider after Howard, Njoku and Engram are taken, and what round?

Talent is talent. A dude is a dude. Whether or not a QB's rating or ranking changes doesn't mean that the player has changed. Regardless of whether a QB is rated a 1st, 2nd or 3rd rounder, either he has it or he doesn't. Matt Leinert was drafted high in round one. Russell Wilson was a 3rd rounder. 1st rounder...3rd rounder. Which one had more success?

With this good draft in terms of talent I doubt a team with several holes in the roster spend a top 15 pick on undersize linebacker.

If we are starting the full rebuild next year I couldn't agree more with this statement. I believe the Cardinals have a guy or two in mind that they are targeting to go into next season with.

His size has nothing to do with it. Hes an elite player and will be a pro bowler in the NFL*

* that is if his idiocy allows him to play long enough to make the pro bowl. If you cant be a professional on the most important day of your football career(combine), then I dont have much faith that youll be able to stay out of trouble the other 364 days of the year, + now you have millions of dollars to play with

no thank you. D Wash is also an elite player, but we all see that doesnt mean diddily if youre a moron

It's possible to get franchise QB starters past the first round but it's not very likely. Even in the first Rd. It's a crapshoot. Many more misses than hits (NY Jets) for ex. Teams are desperate for that position, rightly so.

It can take years to find the right guy, so teams like the Cardinals try mostly to play it safe and sign a former starter who hits the market. Eventually you just realise you have to keep at it (drafting) until you figure it out or pay out the nose at the expense of upgrading all around /elsewhere.

And I bet the Seahawks with Wilson and Dallas with Prescott got lucky to an extent making an attempt late but if they knew what they know now, the would have drafted those QBs with the first pick and not risk the quarterback for value and great initial draft reviews where championships are never won

The Arizona Cardinals use there tight ends is a very strange way. OJ Howard is such a freak that I think the Cardinals would draft him just for his special abilities. After that, I see a couple good blocking tight ends in the middle of the draft, but I do not have my notes in front of me so I cannot give you any names at the moment.

Much ado about nothing. There is a history of issues with physicals at the combine and the significant wait times. Foster addressed it at the Alabama Pro Day and reports are that it is a non story.
