During the weekend, I caught a clip where the NFL Network analysts were debating between DeQuan Bowers and Robert Quinn. I found it really interesting when they gave Quinn the edge over Bowers not because of athleticism or speed, but because he is terrific at leveraging/setting the edge. Whenever you hear of a Steelers type of outside linebacker, you always hear the term setting/leveraging the edge as the most important quality that they look for.

I just found that interesting considering all the buzz was about his great speed and athleticism.

Put me down for Quinn over Miller. I think Quinn is faster than that 4.7 time he put up. Looked to me like he had a bad start.

I watched some Bowers and Quinn lately. Bowers is completely out of my top 20. He is not Peppers. He doesn't set the edge at all, he is bad against the run and is very inconsistent as passrusher as well.

Quinn does have much more leverage and is just a better footballplayer on tape. I'm begining to like Quinn more, but i don't have him as top prospect since he is not strong inside, to make bullrush. That's what Steelers look for the most. Guys that can make speed rush and than change it into a bullrush, it's a signature what they do on the edge.

Bowers has alot alot of bad tape, he should be a second rounder based on what he delivers on the field, but his potential and size and one solid season makes him jump to top 5.

no denying that Quinn is a talented football player- but after really only one full season of major college football, and last year not playing: at #5?

that would take huevos.

I do not use my #5 pick on a player who did not play last year. Talk about a gamble that surely is one. The first thing you start with is health.

There was an interesting video take on NFL Network about Peppers and his ability to run while keeping his body at a severe angle to the ground, almost like a slalom water skier does when making a cut around a buoy. They said it was a real mark of a successful NFL pass rusher.
