Robin is not the only one in the family who is disappointing

Here are some excerpts from an article about the most disappointing young players in the NBA this year.

The once-All-Star worthy center Brook Lopez has been downright terrible for long stretches throughout this season. His once-iffy rebounding rate has dwindled to the ranks of the embarrassing -- Brook pulls in just over 10 percent of all available rebounds. For comparison's sake, the league leaders this year are managing 2 1/2 times that mark ...

Lopez did force shots down the stretch, bad shots. He was pulled as a result, and had some choice words for Nets coach Avery Johnson ...

The Nets are trying their hardest to make Lopez the second-best player on a team featuring Carmelo Anthony, and while that's not going to be a championship core at its best, it's going to be far worse if Johnson keeps handling Lopez this way.

Because the third-year center has taken a clear step backward, and it can't be coincidental that Johnson is talking smack on- and off-record about the guy every damn day.

It looks like Brook Lopez is ruining the Nets hopes of landing Carmelo Anthony.

At least Alvin Gentry is handling Robin Lopez in a positive way despite his disappointing season.

It sounds like it's Avery Johnson who's ruining their Melo chances more than Brook's. Anyway, maybe we can trade Gortat for Brook and play the Lopez brothers together.

I was thinking the Suns should consider trading Robin to the Nets for picks (and whatever) but your idea of sending Gortat for Brook is worth thinking about.

If Avery thinks Brook is mentally soft, just wait till he gets ahold of Robin.

Yeah right, the Nets must be dreaming about the "Polish Layup", "Polish Stone Hands" or "Polish Big Mouth", can't decide.

Avery Johnson likes toughness and defense. Apparently, he considers Brook to be soft physically and mentally. Despite what we've seen so far, Gortat has a much better reputation league wide in this regard. His brief stint in Phoenix wouldn't likely be enough to tarnish that reputation either as everyone knows that Phoenix is where defensive players go to die.

I guess it's both. (A) The player's softness and (B) the coach's handling of it. Either way, (C) players on other teams certainly know what's happening on the court.

This is true.

Its also where offensive players go to retire when they feel like it, regardless of the needs of the franchise.

Can you give an example of that? Sure, we get a lot of veterans, but have we had many players retire with the Suns being their last team? I'm not sure that we have. And without injuries being the reason, that is.

I'd rather not. I'd get flamed. I'm in a good mood today :)

Flamed for what? I don't understand. Certainly you aren't implying Steve Nash and Grant Hill. Even Kurt Thomas was traded away. How many players came to Phoenix for the express purpose of coasting until they retire? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Even Jarron Collins intended to continue playing after his 1 year with us (he's on the Clippers now).
