Shane I am a little confused at your betting because this is the second thread u have bet the same amount on both sides ofthe bet. Are you hoping to get a push and cash in or break even? U obviously have made good bets in the past and I would like to be your apprentice and learn from mr warren buffet himself.

The payoff is 3:2 on either side of the bet, so betting an equal amount on both sides guarantees a 25% profit (except in a push).

I havent bet at all and I dont bet the both side of either bet. I bet one side and that is all. I did when we first started vbookie but have decided that its not the right thing to do.

It is up to the bettor to have the integrity not to do that. it is easy to bet when you are betting both sides and guaranteed to win. Really when you do that whats the point?

I can see betting both sides when you have a small amount of loot, i.e. less than a few million and are trying to accumulate some cash, but at some point I would think you would try to make a bet on 1 side only, otherwise what is the point? If the goal is to pass you up I would think it would come with a Barry Bonds type asterisk.

I bet for the fun of it, and personally see no fun in scalping dollars without making a real wager. It creates interest in games for me that I otherwise could care less about and strangely enough causes me to root for the Lakers when I don't like them at all. :D

Game is at 12:30 PM...not 7:30 PM (Betting closes at 7:30 PM)

Otherwise, I'll be betting once the game is over :)

The payoff is 3:2 - so for every 2 you pay in you get 3 back, i.e. you get your 2 bucks back plus you win 1. In other words you are giving the bookie 2:1 odds. Obviously, if you bet both sides equally you'll get 3 bucks back for every 4 you bet, a loss of 25%. From the amount of money Shane has I'd guess that he's frequently the bookie... in which case, if he bets then its just going from one pocket to another.

I don't get it. Fuzzy math. I don't have Shane's money, but I have at least a billion. Have never once been the "bookie."

No, the wagering odds are 3:2, so you get 5 back for your 2 in the event of a win. (An even money bet is otherwise known as 1:1.) Bet both sides at 3:2, and you win 5 (5+0) for 4 (2+2). Come on, errnt, you know my math skills are a hell of a lot better than that.

The bookie isn't the bank. Just one glance at the total amount of money in play makes it obvious that this isn't a zero-sum game.

I see, its a game designed so the bettors make a lot of money... I assumed it was supposed to be challenging - and they were quoting payout odds the way racetracks do with parimutual betting. I guess that explains why some people have such vast amounts of money. I've made a few bets and even won a couple but I never remembered how much I bet or on which team, so I didn't see what odds I was being paid off at.

I wasn't questioning your math skills, Eric - I thought you were misinterpreting what the 3/2 odds meant.

I'm running a test now... 20 on the Rocks and 30 on the Lakers. If its not a push I should break even or win 25. I should be able to remember that...

If the Rockets win you will win 30.
If the Lakers win you will win 45.
That does not include the initial money you bet.
What you will see come back to your account if you win is;
Rockets win = 50
Lakers win = 75

I said after game 6 I was done betting on the Lakers, but geez....game 7 at home, no Yao, no T-Mac, no way Brooks, Scola, & Co. have another career game, plus the league wants the Lakers to advance, so I'm going to do it again.

LA should win this convincingly, but they'll probably win by 11 and not cover so I'll have the worst of both worlds.

Go Nuggets!

What's with Magic Johnson's head? There is this huge crease that stretches from temple to temple that makes it look like he's wearning something
