Even though I posted a thread a few days ago about Tony Womack still hitting .230, in a 3-way rotation at 2B and SS with the Rockies, I was surprised that the Rockies gave up on him so quickly.
Once again, he's been traded for a Minor Leaguer.
No one wanted to see Tony move on from the D'backs more than I! I once described him as having the least common sense of any batter I'd ever seen.
If only he did the things a leadoff hitter is supposed to do, using his one skill -- speed. Steal bases, bloop hits. But he insisted on trying to put most pitches into the air. And he stopped stealing.
The image I'll remember of Tony is on the D'backs Playing Hardball T.V. promo, when he surprises a teammate by throwing a baseball at him. saying, "Think quick.", then giggling.
Ah, the innocence of a child-like mentality! Enjoy life, Tony!
