Rockies' Jimenez to DL with cut cuticle (AP)

The Colorado Rockies have placed ace Ubaldo Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list so he can fully recover from a cracked cuticle on his pitching thumb that threatened to mess up his mechanics. Jimenez had an awful opener against Arizona last week when he couldn't grip the ball properly and lacked both spin on his breaking pitches and oomph on his usually electric fastball.
