I honestly believe they should scrap the game entirely... Why play the game?? Does anyone really care about the game itself??? Of course not.
Being selected as an All-Star should mean something. But the Pro Bowl game only takes away from the ability to ensure that being selected the best at your position carries any weight or meaning...
In MLB, the game is able to be played in a manner that carries meaning and enough passion to keep it all interesting. And of course, the peripheral events (HR Derby for example) add to the fun and excitement.
In the NBA, the game is nothing more than a circus type side show. But the NBA can carry that sort of stygma and still have the selection to the All-Star team mean something.
The NFL Pro Bowl has been hurting for quite some time. There is truly nothing they can do to generate more interest in the game - both from a fan, as well as a player perspective. The game does not lend itself to the sort of fun, excitement and circus flair that MLB and the NBA are able to create. There is truly nothing entertaining whatsoever with the Pro Bowl... Pro football is simply too dangerous and justifiably so, players are not willing to actually play in a way that, while it could create more excitement, could also mean career-ending injury...
Just end the game itself. Name guys to the All-Star team, send them to Hawaii for some sun and fun, and drop the game... it's pointless.
