Roma include Enzo Maresca on managerial shortlist
Serie A giants have added Chelsea gaffer Enzo Maresca to their managerial wishlist, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Claudio Ranieri has done impressive work at Roma after becoming the third manager of the season, following Daniele de Rossi and Ivan Juric.
Ranieri has recovered the Giallarossi from a deep crisis to become one of the potent sides in Serie A.
The capital giants are seventh in the league table, only four points off the fourth-placed Bologna.
Ranieri will transition into an executive role at the end of the season, helping Giallorossi find a new permanent manager.
While Ranieri recently ruled out a move for Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Maresca has now emerged as one of the candidates for the managerial position at Roma.
Maresca joined the Blues last summer after helping Leicester City win the EFL Championship to gain promotion to the Premier League.
The former Manchester City assistant made a great start to life at the Stamford Bridge, turning Chelsea into a title contender.
However, the Blues have experienced a dip in form over the last few months, putting Maresca on the firing line.
Maresca’s future at Stamford Bridge hinges on Chelsea’s Champions League qualification and their success in the Europa Conference League.
Roma have also shortlisted Turkey head coach Vincenzo Montella, former Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri, Stefano Pioli and Roberto Mancini as potential successors to Ranieri.
The Giallorossi owners, the Friedkin group, are also exploring the idea of recruiting a high-profile foreign manager as they did with Jose Mourinho in 2021.
