According to ESPN Insider the Cardinals will take a look at Ross Verba as a possible RT this week.

Um, bring him in couldn't hurt?

Wasn't he out of football last year?

He was pretty good when he was in it if I recall.

verba is a victom of himself. he priced himself out the nfl last season. he was asking pro-bowl money. that is why he sat out last season. if his attitude has changed then bring him in.

McShay's Comments:
He is a little short for an OT and he does not have long arms, but makes up for some of that by being an above average athlete. He shows good foot quickness. He can short set and get good position. He is a solid technician - plays with solid balance and body control. He is keeps good position - doesn't take fakes on double rush moves. He is a good competitor, but not the tough, physical nasty player he tries to portray himself as. He is an effective run blocker in space. He flashes to want to get downfield and make blocks. He shows solid initial, foot and lateral quickness. He is not very big - kind of manufactured and topped out weight/size wise. Can get in trouble at times giving up his outside edge and he does not have the arm length to consistently take the DE wide around the QB.

The above write-up suggests he's seasoned and not prone to make dumb mistakes. That's crucial. At the very least he can be plugged in there and buy us some time to eventually find (or groom) someone to serve as Leinart's body guard from the right side for a long, long time.

this would be a very good pick-up..i think he really got into it with his former coach and the league gave him a year to cool off...still young enough and experienced enough to be a very good contributor.

Interesting. Hopefully it's true. That would really make a difference, I think.

And, if we draft in the bottom-third of the draft next year, we'll probably be in a place to take a RT for Leinart's blindside in the coming years.

His name is Carnahan and he plays RT @ ASU

Purportedly, he wanted Orlando Pace/Walter Jones type money. He played LT; Shelton was signed to replace him, after he was released. Cards have a lot of money invested in the other Ross, Oliver. Don't think they can break the bank on Verba.

Speaking of ASU Olineman, I hope the Cards take a look at Grayling Love as an UDFA. He was hurt last year, but before that he was a quality center.

Blalock from Texas was my boy for this year's draft and I will again pimp him for the 2007 draft.

I had this thought that Verba comes in, takes Lutui under his wing and, thus begins a chain of O-line spirit and leadership that becomes a Cardinal tradition.

How cool would that be?

That can be easily fixed. Release current Ross, sign new Ross. :0

Cardinals Interested in Ross Verba

NFL | Verba contemplating a comeback
Mon, 1 May 2006 18:15:56 -0700

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports former NFL OT Ross Verba is considering an NFL comeback. He paid the Cleveland Browns last year to break his contract, and he never landed a job. Verba has taken calls from the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals requesting visits and could be one of the most active free agent players this week.
