Rotoworld is what it is.

I love checking its transaction list, but you have to be mindful of the rumors you read on it.

Take it for what it is worth.

"As would all veteran players left on the market. Winston prefers to remain with the Cardinals but admits talks haven't been "super positive." Some believe Winston's new title as NFLPA president may be working against him"

That right tackle position seems to be ...... interesting to say the least.

I'm guessing that we have a hand shake agreement, that if we don't select a tackle in the first or second round, that we'll bring him back. Seems to me that he'd be getting some offers other wise, even if he's president of the NFLPA.

Could be semantics.

I would be shocked if talks were positive about him signing before the draft.

Not the same as Winston isn't wanted back - after the draft if a OT doesn't fall on the first 2 days.

I don't know if they have an arrangement, or not...however, the Cards may be thinking they want Winston back, regardless of who they draft, but if they draft a RT they only want to give him a 1 year deal...and if they don't draft a RT maybe they are thinking 2-3 years...

I thought he played solid last year and I know you're always looking to improve, but I thought he'd be resigned really fast considering we have other desperate needs at safety and outside linebacker that draw more attention.

My guess is Winston was hoping for a Dansby like situation and it hasn't panned out. He hasn't received any substantial offers from other teams and so he has very little leverage in dealing with Arizona who is comfortable with a longer time table, probably post draft when teams may purge a portion of their roster.

Sowell, Winston....not much if any drop off, imo.

Vet RT's should be available after the draft if one doesn't pan out there.

Winston graded out well, particularly in the last half.

Sowell was the worst starting LT in the League.

He would immediately be our starter. We can wait, but we should get him back if possible. Continuity is a big thing on the oline

That's irrelevant. Winston can't even begin to play LT. I'm not a Sowell fan but you can't base anything on that comparison.

it's relevant as to a discussion about right tackles. We know Winston can do the job, and what we know of Sowell at LT, it's at least debatable whether he can function above adequate.

I am on the resign Eric Winston bandwagon, but this the second year in a row that he is not receiving any interest from other teams. There has to be a reason.

Didn't Winston grade out horribly on several different metrics last year? I've read several articles where he graded in the bottom of the barrel league wide.

Just from the eye test he seemed to provide decent protection, but I've always looked at overall performance as hard to judge as a fan. We just don't know all 11 players individual assignment on any given play.

For example, usually in the run game we don't know what he is supposed to do vs what he actually did, unless it's something outrageous where he gets bull-rushed into the backfield or gets blown by at the line of scrimmage.

Tale of two seasons. He improved as the season went.

I won't believe any rumor on Winston till it is confirmed by a Baltimore Raven insider because apparently they know more about the Cardinals than we do... wonder if the Raven's have a 32 team mock draft, would like to know who we intend to pick ahead of time :)
