Well, with the magic number down to 2 i have finally been convinced. all season i've held my breath for the playoffs, and even at the beginning of this week i just didn't think we could make it. last night's victory sold me. this team is on a mission and i'm glad, for marbury's and penny's sakes that they're gonna make it. this team is large on the come and peeps be foolish not to bet on 'em. that said, i see the squad giving either the mavs or spurs fits in the first round (i didn't say beatin' them, just fits). if it's the kings, i think we're swept. kings and lakers only teams in western conference that i think we absolutely do NOT have a chance against. thoughts?

I wouldn't want to face the Lakers, but I don't think we wouldn't have a chance against them. We took them to overtime with very strange substitutions. If Frank coached that Laker game like he coached last night's game, then we might have been able to pull off that game.

Out of all the teams, I fear the Kings the most.

Lets say we get the Spurs in the first round and upset them, then get the Blazers in the next round and go to the conference finals.

I'd be most afraid that we would blow it against the Leastern Conference in the finals.

I think we can beat anyone in the West except the Lakers.

Easy boys - easy! Hey - that win last night was absolutely ENORMOUS - not only because we won and houston lost - but it was an absolute ass-kicking - something we have been doing to everyone, but the Lakers, the last couple weeks. HOWEVER! - Our remaining stretch run is still really tough - we have four games left and have to go 2-2 - anything can happen and the history of this team - and ********* I don't want to bring this up -but we do have to batle the ghosts of Houston - Anyone remember 2-0 lead COMING HOME in 1994? I do - I was running around my parent's house with a broom the night we came back from 20 in the fourth in Houston to win. I also remember being at game 3 when we stormed out to a 17 point first quarter lead and then the Rockets never missed a three for the rest of the series. And does anyone remember the painful 3-1 lead we owned the next season against - HOUSTON - I do.

Houston, as poorly as they are playing could win out and we could, COULD lose three of four - I don't see it hapenning, but I will rest a lot easier when we have clinched - then and only then will I throw my hat into the ring about our (pretty good IMO) chances at knocking off Duncan and the Spurs and screwing ABC not giving them what they want - THYE'LL GET US AND LOVE IT!

I will be happy if the Suns can win two games in the first round.

Having said that, I think that they can beat anybody. I would not be surprised if they beat the Spurs and advance to the 2nd round.

The only two teams I am afraid of are Sacramento Kings, and the Lakers.

Don Nelson's Take on the No. 8 seed

I thought this was good

Don Nelson has been around the block, honing his skills in coaching, management and politics en route to assembling the multinational force that came to America West Arena on Wednesday tied for the best record in the NBA.

He knows it's possible his Mavericks could run into the Suns again in the opening round of the playoffs next week. He also knows the Suns, who hung on through the loss of three injured starters, will be close to full strength if they land the eighth playoff seed in the Western Conference.

"I watched them all day, lots of film, and they're very good, very solid," Nelson said. "They're not only the mystery team, but I think they have more talent than people realize. I think that if they can get that eighth seed, which I would imagine they would, they're going to be a very tough opponent for anybody. They're deep, they're good. They can be big, they can be small."

The Mavs, however, would have to finish ahead of San Antonio to get the No. 1 seed and a first-round matchup with the No. 8.

Their 112-89 loss to the Suns dropped them a game behind the Spurs, who beat Portland. Should the Mavericks finish third, their likely first-round opponent would be the Lakers.

There are no chickens at our house - my neighbor has a bunch but I'll be damned if I'm going to start counting yet. I'd like to know if roosters count when I start?????

I am sticking by my prediction that Houston will fold. So far they have lets all hope it continues.

A good sign for the playoffs:
Phoenix is 10-3 at home against the seven Western Conference teams that have qualified for the playoffs.

roost-er: 1 a: an adult male domestic fowl: **** b: an adult male of various birds other than the domestic fowl 2: a cocky or vain man

chick-en: 1 a: the common domestic fowl (Gallus gallus) esp. when young; also : its flesh used as food -- compare JUNGLE FOWL b: any of various birds or their young 2: a young woman 3 a: COWARD b: any of various contests in which the participants risk personal safety in order to see which one will give up first 4 [short for chickenshit] slang: petty details 5: a young male homosexual.

Well, from the definitions it seems that a chicken is a domestic fowl, either male or female, and, as a rooster is a male domestic fowl, it seems to fall within the chicken category, so, what's good enough for Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary Tenth Edition is good enough for me. count the roosters with them chickens.
