Could someone please buy him some glasses/contacts or something - Did any one else think it was commical seeing him squint to see one of the score boards, then very monkey like scribble some notes on a piece of paper. I was hoping Rowen was the older guy sitting on the left (closest to the camera) but no - just confirmed - that was our OC in the middle. When he was scribbling it was right out of planet of the apes. For those of you with it tivo'd check it out.

I am sure he makes enough to get his eyes fixed.

I just hope he becomes a better play caller in the red zone.

First Cardinals drive last night, they get to about the 5 yard line (or thereabout), Rowen calls the same slant out to Bryant Johnson that they have scored on twice this pre-season, from the same general distance to goal. Denver DB was all over that play!!! Rowen is too predictable! The good thing is that with the skill players that the Cards have many times they still make the play even when the opponent knows what is coming.

Thanks to good ball placement on the throw it wasn't an INT for a TD, 100 yards the other direction.

Jeez, relax. We play Denver again in the regular season. Did you expect Rowen to tip his hand on any plays we might eventually use in the red zone?

agreed. No throws to Boldin or Fitzgerald in the redzone = bad OC. It was happening last year, and we wonder why we had the worst redzone offense.

We didn't open our playbook and get "super" creative in the 4th pre-season game? Shocker!!! We suck! Our coaches suck!

If the DB would been half a step quicker it would have been a TD for them. he knew the ball was going to Johnson.

My comment re: red zone playcalling relates to not only this pre-season but also all of last season. You remember... 5-11; The Cardinals sucked at scoring TD's, due in great extent to the play calling selection!

Yeah, it's because we can't effectively RUN the ball. That makes you predictable, and especially in the red zone.

It's pre season. Watch that play again cause the next time, our QB will look at Johnson as our TE comes open over the middle of the end zone.

Yeah, we've seen Edge quite a bit in preseason in the red zone....

Let's start worrying if it happens during the year.

It's not like this hasn't been an issue all last season and this pre-season also. You think my comments are unwarranted fine; but to criticize it as not legitimate because it's pre-season that just doesn't wash.

Rowen was a rookie OC last season and the Cardinals sucked at getting the ball into the end zone. You want to think that it's all been fixed because they signed James, be my guest. But having Edge run into the asses of Reggie Wells and Leonard Davis isn't going to score any points either. Of course if the Cardinals follow last years trend, then once they get inside the 15, Edge will be on the sideline along with Boldin and Fitzgerald.

Excuse me for bringing up a football topic outside of the regular season. I guess you prefer discussions of who Matt is screwing, what the new stadium food menu is, or the latest crap about TO...

slanidrac, I hope your right!

Maybe if you actually looked at things you would realize you are being ridiculous.

By my calculations our first team offense was in the Red Zone 6 times this preseason. They scored 4 tds and kicked 2 Fgs.

Your the one that came back with sarcastic comments when I broached the subject, rather than actually discuss it.

I am as optomistic about the Cardinals upcoming season as anyone. Does that mean we should not discuss anything until then???

I just think you aren't really focusing on the overall picture, and just last nights game. BTW, I believe last night was the only game we kicked a FG from the red zone(with the first teamers at least)

I got the impression yesterday that our Red Zone goal yesterday was more about finding out what plays would or would not work than necessarily to score.

I think that may have been the reason we dialed up so many running plays inside the 5.

Otherwise, for example, we would have seen at least a couple more fades to the corner of the end zone.

I'm still concerned about why we can't seem to run well to our left (particularly with Big over there). Just curiousm but has anybody tracked and graded Wells on those plays?

But having Edge run into the asses of Reggie Wells and Leonard Davis isn't going to score any points

I have a feeling that it won't be long before they have Edge running behind Latui and scoring lots of points. The Duece was getting some nice push on running plays last night.

Our linemen are so one-dimensional. They either excel in pass blocking or run blocking but are mediocre to average on the other.
Agree. Big is the only two dimensional O-Lineman. Lutui and Brown have the potential but aren't there yet. Wells and Step need to improve their run-blocking. Milbrown, Gorin and Ross need to be better in their pass-blocking. Leckey is also two-dimensional, but simply too small to be a full-time starter.

By mid-season, I'm guessing (hoping) the depth chart looks like this:
LT: Big, Wakefield/Gorin
LG: Lutui, Step
C: Wells, Leckey
RG: Milford, Elton (Brown)
RT: Ross, Gorin (IF Ross returns healthy and plays up to his pre-Cards par)
