A league source tells us that former Eagles V.P. of player personnel Jason Licht is expected to be hired soon by the Arizona Cardinals.

Licht was dumped by the Eagles several weeks, in a surprise move.

As we hear it, Licht will be working for the Cardinals in the pro personnel area. The difference between his new salary in Arizona and old salary in Philly presumably will be picked up by the Eagles, since he was fired with a year left on his contract.

the eagles spent many years as a model for bringing in new players building a solid foundation. Anyone who helped orchestrate that is welcome in my book.

so, what exactly will he be doing? Will he be taking some of the responsibilities away from Graves?

Graves is still the GM and this guy will be under Graves. Graves is the GM and then there are two guys that are directly under him. Director of college scouting which Steve Keim was promoted to, and then this guy will presumably be the director of Pro Player scouting.

College scouts are exactly what the name says, pro player scouts do exactly that, they are the ones the scout players that are already in the league for things such as free agency, for help in game planning against a player, scouting on guys that might be on the waiver wire and so on.

I think after this hiring we still have to hire this new guy Jason Licht's assistant (We fired or didnt pick up the contract of both of our por player personel department), someone to take over as Steve Kiems east region scouting management duties, and then one other scout who was fired or wasnt re-sign.

Maybe Jim O can help us out with who still needs to be replaced.

Probably doing a lot of the scouting since we fired quite a bit of them.........

Doesn't the fact that he was fired by the Eagles concern anyone? Obviously, it's not a problem for our GM so maybe there's nothing to worry about.

Doesnt sound like he was let go becuase of performance issues but rather he had a falling out with the wrong guy.

"Word around the organization is that Licht had a falling-out with vice president of football administration Howie Roseman, the protege of team president Joe Banner. "

Licht was apart of the scouting department that helped the Patriots have a turn around in the early 2000's. Because of that success he went on to a promotion and more pay in 2004 in Philly. Poeple like the way that both the Patriots and Philly go about their business in the offseason with free agency and Licht learned from both teams.

This could be a really good hiring.

didnt we just promote keim to handle pro scouting?

Looks like he is director of Player Personel which is over both College and Pro Player scouting. So this new guy will actually be under Kiem as pro player scout, of which we got rid of both of ours last year.

So the organizational chart seems to be -

Graves
Then Steve Keim and Reggie Terry
Then all of the scouts, College and Pro Player

Being from the Pats, I wonder if he knows how to videotape? ;)

IMHO, this is a fantastic move for the Cards. Not only have they spent the bucks to get a great coaching staff, they are recruiting proven winners for the home office.

Now,is Graves the GM or VP of football operations :D?

Thanks Joe, your input is encouraging, this sounds like another step up in the right direction.

Major league pick up if he comes. The team is really putting it together in all corners. Someone STILL insists on knocking RG....that is so tired and boring... I just don't get it.
