CBS.SportsLine.com narrows in on the recent rumors and gossip surrounding players, coaches and teams.

Team by Team
Atlanta Falcons Updated:05/08/2006
The Falcons have decided to hold onto T.J. Duckett, after fielding several offers from teams such as the Steelers. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that if third-round pick Jerious Norwood gives indications that he can complement Warrick Dunn, Atlanta's asking price for Duckett could come down.

Baltimore Ravens Updated:05/01/2006
Steve McNair was granted permission to talk with the Ravens. The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens would have to either trade a 2007 draft pick for McNair or wait until the Tennessee Titans release him. The Ravens have the leverage, because the Titans have less than $500,000 in salary cap room.

Cleveland Browns Updated:05/08/2006
The Browns are looking for a veteran quarterback to backup Charlie Frye. Kerry Collins is without a team, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that he doesn't want to be a backup and is asking for starter's money. Jay Fiedler is still mending from shoulder surgery and could be signed by the Giants. As far as trading for a backup, the Browns have struck out on Joey Harrington and Oakland's Marques Tuiasosopo.

Dallas Cowboys Updated:05/08/2006
Bill Parcells signed a two-year extension in January, but according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, this could be his last season with the Cowboys. In three full seasons under Parcells, the Cowboys are just a few field goals better than average. No Super Bowls. No playoff wins. No division titles. One winning season.

Denver Broncos Updated:05/09/2006
According to the Denver Post, Javon Walker will get the $1.15 million base salary from the contract he originally signed with the Green Bay Packers, plus a five-year, $42 million extension from the Broncos. If all goes well, Walker would be paid more than any receiver except Indianapolis' Marvin Harrison (seven years, $66 million; $22 million signing bonus) and Oakland's Randy Moss (eight years, $75 million; $18 million bonus).

Detroit Lions Updated:05/08/2006
The Detroit News reports that president Matt Millen must trade Joey Harrington or release him before June 15, the date on which Harrington is due a bonus of $4 million if he is on the roster. In March, Harrington visited the Dolphins and was impressed by the recruiting pitch made by coach Nick Saban.

Green Bay Packers Updated:05/08/2006
Mark Roman is still miffed about the signing of safety Marquand Manuel. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Roman asked to be released after Manuel was signed away from the Seattle Seahawks in March. Even though Roman was at his usual spot with the starting defense during minicamp, the starting job could go to Manuel once he's healthy.

Houston Texans Updated:05/09/2006
According to the Houston Chronicle, veteran running back Antowain Smith signed a one-year deal with the Texans to play in the city he has called home since 1994. With Domanick Davis listed as the starting running back for the Texans, Smith said he is comfortable with a back-up role. The Texans also announced that they worked out a contract extension with right tackle Zach Wiegert and signed offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam.

Indianapolis Colts Updated:05/01/2006
The Colts used their first-round pick in 1999 on running back Edgerrin James, who had 369 carries as a rookie and then had 387 the following season. According to the Indianapolis Star, Joseph Addai, the player expected to help fill the void created by James' departure via free agency, shouldn't anticipate a similar withering workload. The offense could remain a one-back attack with Addai sharing time with veteran Dominic Rhodes.

Kansas City Chiefs Updated:05/01/2006
Herm Edwards and Ty Law have stayed in regular contact. With $9 million worth of breathing room in Kansas City's salary cap, Kansas City Star reports that Law could be just what the team needs since he is still the most complete corner in football and could easily transition into a Pro Bowl safety.

Miami Dolphins Updated:05/09/2006
Ricky Williams is trying to play this season in the Canadian Football League. The Miami Herald reports that Keith Pelley, president of the Toronto Argonauts, stated that his team would be willing to do things for Williams, but Pelly hasn't made a formal contract offer.

Minnesota Vikings Updated:05/09/2006
Former Vikings running back Onterrio Smith is expected to sign a contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this week, who according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, hold Smith's Canadian Football League rights. Smith was informed by the NFL that he will not be reinstated next month when his one-year suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy ends.

New England Patriots Updated:05/09/2006
According to the Boston Globe, Bill Belichick called Corey Dillon last Saturday to inform his starting tailback that the Patriots would draft a running back in the first round. Starting tight end Daniel Graham never received a phone call before the team drafted David Thomas and Garrett Mills, which could mean that his time with the Patriots is coming to and end.

Seattle Seahawks Updated:05/09/2006
The Seahawks and coach Mike Holmgren hope to reach agreement on a contract extension this week. The Seahawks are coming off a 13-3 season that left Holmgren with the highest regular-season winning percentage of any coach in team history. The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Holmgren has expressed satisfaction with the direction of the franchise, but until recently, wasn’t sure he wanted to coach beyond his original eight-year commitment.

Tennessee Titans Updated:05/09/2006
USA Today reports that the Titans have begun the Vince Young era, as the No. 3-overall pick of the draft took his first snaps at a rookie minicamp. Steve McNair, who is on the trading block, wasn't on hand to watch. Running back LenDale White was held out of the workout because of a torn right hamstring.

One NFL team is conspicuously absent from the rumor treadmill.

I would take Mark Roman to compete for the FS spot. Law would make an excellent FS but way to much $$$$.
