We all know that Whis wanted to run the ball this year, but in no way did I think we would be getting the results we're getting so soon.

After two games we are 6th in the NFL in rushing at over 146 YPG. Pretty amazing turnaround from the past few years.

I expected us to run the ball more often than we are, but I would never think we would do it this well.

I can't remember when we were ever able to run the ball at will to close out a game.

The oline was kicking Seattle's front 7's butt!

Edge's forward lean and leg drive was amazing effort...I would like to see him break a few though.

Emmit Smith against the Seahawks and Saints in DG's first year here.

But yeah, that was just weird/glorious to see.

The Ravens are gonna put a dent in those numbers. Hope Leinart is ready to go.

Edge has 50 carries, which ties him for the league lead. Shipp has to get more involved at some point.

Why?

25 carries is about right for a feature back.

Shipp is a nice change of pace back but Edge is the man.

I agree that Edge cannot sustain that many carries a game. He will be worn out in short order. 25 carries a game would seem about right. I also agree Shipp must be more involved. It seems Arrington is getting more carries than Shipp. I will say that I saw Arrington on one run not run out of bounds and took the tackler pretty much straight on. That is a change for the better. I guess the coaches are seeing more in him than I have been so I must trust their judgement. Sure would like to see McFadden running with Edge. I think he ran the ball 35 times this week for 195 yards but ended the last 5 minutes on the bench with a slight concussion. Seems like he creates his own holes while carrying people on his back. He has to be the best college running back in the nation and runs with another guy named Jones who is likely to go 1st round.

What percentage of the large gaining runs was a fullback lined up behind the line?

Dunno, but I do know of one occasion when Edge - in a single-back set - gained a sizable chunk of yardage behind a TE who had come across in motion from the right slot to just inside his left tackle.

In a sense, the TE was filling the same role that a lead-FB would normally fill.

Edge has been making great cuts, finding the hole, and running down hill. He looks reborn behind this O-line. Glad to see him proving some of the doubters wrong.

Not likely the doubters will ever admit Edge is better than the beloved.

I'm rewatching the end of the game from the fumble to the end, and there was a full back in on every play. He hit someone coming through a hole between the LG and the C, and edge hit the hole behind Duece on each of those plays.

Oh and on the fumble play, boy did Seattle's FB whiff on Hayes. WOW

Edge is simply being Edge! He has been a great back his entire career, he did not have a great year last year (O-line) and still broke 1000 yds. As long as the line play can continue so will the Edge!!!

I am starting to think that as our OL gets better and better so does our defensive line at playing the run. It seems that the better the guys you practice against are, the better you will play on Sundays.

Or not.

That would be because the Card's ran the same play four times straight!

Yeah I guess my point was more along the lines of the fullback is working for edge, despite all the worry about him not going for the idea.
